Mops just tweeted that the ducks are still in it. This guy is actually a really solid left over recruit, and I'd be very happy if we could some how convince him to get out here for a visit. Not much time left, and we are a little late in the game, but we'll see if Altman can pull off some late magic to add another important big to this team.

So it was him. With Crittle leaving it'd be great to add a player like Cain.

Cain would be an excellent pickup, but I can't see him turning down his hometown team (Illinois) or West Virginia. Both are better fits for him imo.

Illinois is definitely the team to beat for him. It's going to be hard for Oregon to get him unless he is absolutely blown away by a visit here.

The depth chart may work in Oregon's favor...

Cain is a 6-7 forward who is best known for his ability to score and rebound inside. He calls that his bread and butter, but he now can step outside to shoot and handle the ball. A number of schools are looking for that kind of talent, and Cain is researching his options. Whenever he receives a phone call from a college coach, he jots down the name of the school and the coach. After the call ends, he immediately gets on the Internet, checks out the team's incoming recruits and sees who is coming back at his position.

That's kind of odd, considering this team does need some frontcourt help. I don't know what a "ball guard" is but Altman did say the team needed some shooters, which he may be still trying to find. I don't think he can find a guard like that this late in the recruiting cycle since all the good shooters who are Pac-10 quality are gone by now. I would rather him hold the scholarships for next year's recruits since it seems to be a deep class on the West Coast for guards.

Yeah, I don't get that either. But whatever, this season is clearly gonna be a rebuilding year, so not a big deal if our team is a little weak. But clearly the frontcourt is something to address for the 2011 class.

I think that Altman will go hard after Wiltjer since he seems to be the most interested post player in the 2011 class at this point. Several of his AAU teammates have expressed interest in Oregon as well so I think that if Altman can get through the upcoming season reasonably well, then he has shots at some good recruits.
