He is going to need to get some guys that recruits will know or can relate to. I think he may need to raid some other coaching staffs at major conference schools so he has people who know what it takes at this level. Don't take this the wrong way, but Altman can't just have a lily white coaching staff or it will look like his staff can't or won't relate to possible recruits.

Re: Kenny Payne Stays
I think that people in Oregon want to see him at least hire a minority since people up here like to see diversity in hiring. People have already brought up how few African-American coaches the university actually has. They think it may start sending the wrong message to recruits and the press. I know that coaches can win and recruit without a diverse staff, but people are so PC now that he may have to appease them by hiring one. I could care less if he had an all white staff but I don't want to see Altman get blamed for something he didn't do intentionally.buckmarkduck wrote:![]()

Yep same thing sure hurt Lute Olsen all those years building up the Arizona team. How many black assistants did he have over the years? Your logic is flawed. Let Dana do his thing before you start criticizing him and his staff and leave race out of it, and let him hire the best man for the job. Whether he's white, black, Latina, middle eastern or Asian, what's it matter?

Re: Kenny Payne Stays
Totally agree. I haven't really cared whether Payne stayed or left this whole time. I like the idea of wiping the coaching staff slate clean & not having anyone left from the old regime. Payne's AAU were great but its not like they really accomplished much.duckgrad99 wrote:Maybe I'm the only one here with this opinion, but I'm fine with starting with a completely new coaching staff. With Payne leaving, it will be a true test for Altman and his staff to see if they can recruit and win.

Sorry GY, thought you where saying we can't recruit with just white coaches. I agree with you about the PC crap, but I'm more for the best man for the job no matter race (or women, but probably not in this case, no offense to anyone
). I think at the end of the day 99% of duck fans just want W's and don't care who the assistants are, as long as they do the job the right way.

He should hire Lame Kiffins wife. I heard she is good at bringing in high profile recruits.

We don't want those kinds of recruit: players who fall for a tease.duckfan96 wrote:He should hire Lame Kiffins wife. I heard she is good at bringing in high profile recruits.
