Anybody hear about this?

Post by cordy02c »

there's a rumor on espn about us possibly being in the mix for a juco who was set to go to duke but couldn't get in academically. The fact that duke wanted him means he can play

Wonder if it's this kid... He was released from his commit to Duke recently.

"Felix has roots in Arizona, so conceivably Arizona State and Arizona figures to be a possible destination, however, the Wildcats may have to juggle the lineup because of its self-imposed sanction. USC and Oregon are also possibilities because the Trojans and Ducks have scholarships to offer."

"Felix received his release from Duke on Tuesday and will open up his recruitment, College of Southern Idaho coach Steve Gosar said by phone. Gosar denied reports that academics played a role in Felix's decision and said the sophomore-to-be just felt ."

"An athletic wing who had flown mostly under the radar until this season after breaking his wrist three games into last season, Felix averaged 14.8 points and 4.8 rebounds for College of Southern Idaho this season. The fact that he missed the 2008-09 season actually makes him a more attractive prospect because he'll have three years of college eligibility wherever he goes."

Rivals lists Felix with a 3.0 GPA.

Had Felix kept with his commit to Duke, he would have been the first ever JC taken by the Blue Devils.

Duke assistant coach Nate James fell in love with Felix on a visit to Twin Falls to scout CSI center Aziz N’diaye. CSI’s 6-foot-6 wing player quickly caught his eye.

“They just saw that I was a good kid, saw that I played hard, worked hard, was a good powerful player,” said Felix. “They said they can see me playing in their system.”

"With good reason. Thanks to an incredible vertical leap, Felix can bring fans to their feet with his dunks and blocks, something his does especially well on fast-breaks."

“His timing is phenomenal,” said Gosar, “and he just knows he can go up as high as he needs to (in order) to get it. Athletically he can fit in at any school in the country.”

This dude is seasoned! We could use a player like him at the 3/4 who knows what he's doing. Wondering if he's interested in Oregon.

UO coaches have no interest in him, he's not the type of player Altman is looking to ad this year. And he was dropped by Duke after Singler said he was coming back, he didn't drop Duke.

They say he is a slasher-type player, not a shooter that Altman wants. I don't think Altman will be able to find a high school or JUCO shooter this late in the game; the only possibility is going to be Sallie from Memphis.

Here is ESPN's current list of uncommitted 2010 prospects, at all positions. Felix is #7 on the list.

Personall, I like the 6'9"/268# C, Markus Kennedy, for spelling Dunigan. Definitely has the size t be a bruising presence in the middle.
