Really beginning to wonder if them taking so long on hiring the remaining coaches affected their ability to close out on this class. They were shorthanded for most of the past month and it seems the only new hire who's seemingly contributed anything so far is Donte Williams, who helped secure Hall and partially Crocker.

If he's flipping DBs with stories of a single play he called when he was OC at a non-power 5 school then crap, we REALLY missed the boat when we didn't go after this guy.
I doubt that's literally what happened. Think more like a brand, though. Peterson gained a reputation as a dangerous coach who did more with less, aggressively taking down superior teams in big games. Those trick plays help make the brand stick. All great players and coaches have these moments.

What is Cristoball's brand? I mean, I know WE have our opinions, but what has he shown the world to make them believe it? Nothing yet. Nothing on a big enough stage for anything to matter.

I'm giving him the same chance I'll give to any new coach, but just trying to be realistic here. Cristoball did manage to keep much of this class intact, which seemed to be a driving force behind hiring him.
Willie Taggart is a dick.

He's kept 14 out of the 25 commits they had before WT left, which is only 56% of the class. While it's likely a higher percentage than had they gone with somebody completely new, it's still a pretty steep drop. Only way to save this class, perception-wise for fans, is if they get Sewell and Williams.

Remember Willie also took David Kelly who was director of football recruiting operations.

Most of the recruits we lost/will lose are going to be to USC. If the head coach was the reason why, and so important then why go to USC with a rather uninspiring head coach with Helton? I purposely haven't seen any video of any of these guys but it will still be disappointing to totally whiff on everyone.

Potentially losing so many guys to USC is making this feel like I imagine how Arizona fans felt after losing so many of their recruits to Oregon last year: frustrated.

You just have to look at the average class rankings and see that Oregon has been trending towards barely the top-20 ever since Chip left.

That is a sobering article

Wow. Ugo Amadi as the best player from the 15 class. Huh.

I hope we can get back to those 10-15 ranked classes because the 15-30 ranked classes were terrible

Could also be that ScoopDuck or DT haven't contacted him yet to update his situation. Think he'll end up getting it.

Either Sewell or one of the defensive linemen, Ojomo (committing tonight) or Ossai.

Would love to hang on to Winston and Johnson. If we don't get either one it will be a disaster.
Oregon is not getting Ojomo or Ossai.

TBH, things are not looking good and Jhop is hinting that Williams, Sewell, Winston and Ezeike all go to USC tomorrow

WTF....there'd be no excuses for this staff if that happens...not to mention Jhop.
JHOP is getting most his info. directly from the coaches. Would I like to see him get a wider perspective and not just bow the knee? Sure. But he's getting stuff from the source, or at least as close to it as I've seen on a lot of these sites. If we strike out huge tomorrow, it will be a no confidence vote for the coaches because they are feeding Jhop. If they can't gauge where commits stand that badly, it's not a good look.
The Vegas bowl was strike 1, a recruiting debacle of this magnitude would be strike 2.

I want SO badly to be wrong about this hire, but early returns are not good.
Gotta wait and see what happens tomorrow first. Then the season. Don't get too far ahead of yourself. I'm hearing some good things about future transfers. The staff also got DJ Johnson. Give them a chance.

Did you even read the article? The 2008 class was ranked #22 and was their best class. The 2010 class was one of the highest ranked and as the author said, flamed put in epic fashion. It's hit and miss. You want get as many good players as you can, but you don't really know what you have until they put on the pads in college....Taggart left the staff in a tough spot. All things considered, they have done very well.

Blaming a brand new staff for losing recruits to USC is a bit much. Every staff ever at Oregon has had that issue. Chip sort of bucked that trend but guys like DAT and Armstead were anomalies. It will suck if all those guys sign with SC but blaming Cristobal isn't really fair.
