I tuned in at the end to see Herbert ice it with a third down run. Cool to see Jeff Bassa, Jamaree Caldwell, Troy Dye and Herbert snapping a pic together after the game.

Herbert looked incredible. Harbaugh effect? Madison Beer effect?

He's been playing hurt. There was a lot of offseason sneering whenever his name came up on sports squawk shows, without a mention of his injury history. What you saw last night was Herbert when he's 100%.

His receiving core is vastly improved this year. From "gawd awful" all the way up to "average" and that's all he needs to be effective. Even with a o-line that has only one player that belongs in the NFL. You know how bad the O-line is when Greg Roman calls 60/40 pass to run instead of the other way around.

Ratio was closer to 2:1 but the ~70% passing on 1st down is Roman getting in line with what analytics says: Pass on 1st down.

Not sure how to make this smaller, but pretty cool picture with Nikko Reed, Jamaree Caldwell, Jeffrey Bassa, Troy Dye and Justin Herbert all flashing the O. Glad those guys don't forget their roots.

Totally noticed this too. Super cool to see them all hang/chat after the game.

Big day for Bo Nix and Troy Franklin so far: Dillon Gabriel gets his first NFL TD in garbage time: Juwan Johnson found the endzone for the Saints:

Troy is definitely benefiting from playing on Bo's team. I doubt he'd be getting 9 targets in most other senarios.

I don't know about that. It sounds like he had a pretty good offseason, and preseason

Understood but it helps to have a good offseason/preseason when you're starting QB has had years of reps with you already. And I'm not saying Troy isn't qualified, I'm just saying I think a lot of guys in NFL just don't get the reps/looks they need to prove themselves. So happy Troy got that! And I do think Nix was a factor.
