Lee is going to start wow.

NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND....

There are now reports that JJ and Davenport were not directly involved and that Landry appears to be taking responsibility for the fight….will provide links/additional info as I get it.

I am personally not believing sh*t until I hear an official release from BRPD and CLM

What am I missing here? What has Jefferson ever shown that makes us duck fans think it's a good thing he isn't starting? Pretty sure if you gave LSU Tuel he would be starting for them.

Until it comes out of Les’ mouth no one is going to know.

In my opinion, if JJ is arrested, he is out. If does not get arrested but it is determined that he was involved somehow, he may or may not be out. The reports have been ALL over the place since this has began, who knows what will happen, but I think it is safe to say that no one’s fate has been cast in stone yet.

Did you catch the Cotton Bowl last year? JJ didn’t blow it up but he went 10-19-1 158 yards and had 3 TD’s.

JJ had a BAD start last year to say the least, but his numbers improved the second half of the year and he became, well an average QB. When you have a D like LSU does, an average QB will win you games. In addition, JJ is going on his 4th season as the LSU starter, how does it not benefit the Ducks if he is out?

I think anyone who was part of the fight and not trying to stop it should be out. I don't believe these kids (speaking of college athletes in general) should be let off the hook just because they're not charged with a crime. If they did something wrong, they need to pay the price, and I'm sure Les Miles knows whether these kids committed wrongdoing.

Again, this was a brawl which resulted in people being injured... that's a pretty big deal.

But if any of these players truly weren't throwing kicks/punches, and if they were trying to break it up, then they shouldn't be punished.

Update 12:11 PM CDT

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - It doesn't appear any charges are ready to be filed against the four LSU players implicated in a fight outside a bar early Friday morning.

Jordan Jefferson, Jarvis Landry, Josh Johns, Chris Davenport and their attorney met with investigators of the Baton Rouge Police Department for a few hours Tuesday morning.

The four players answered questions concerning a brawl outside Shady's bar, which is near the campus. Four people were injured in the fight.

According to attorney Nathan Fisher, all of the players cried once they realized the new spotlight they are now in.

"There are no arrest warrants," Fisher said. "There were no suggestions that you have to turn yourself in later out of the pervue of the press. We said what we had to say, did what we had to do, gave some evidence that we had to give, that we were prepared to give on such short notice. We will still continue to investigate, as I'm sure the police will continue to investigate."

Sgt. Don Stone with BRPD confirmed there is video of the fight, but it is limited.

He gave no further details.

The meeting took place at the Baton Rouge Police Department Violent Crimes Unit, which is located within the Louisiana State Police Headquarters.

I hope everything is settled prior to the game. I want the game day gang and
commentators talking about the game and not the off field crap. This game should
be a classic for such an early test for both.

[Baton Rouge - No charges were brought against four LSU football players accused of involvement in a bar fight after a meeting between the players and Baton Rouge police Tuesday at state police headquarters.

Rusty Costanza/The Times-PicayuneLSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson and three other Tigers are meeting with police Tuesday.
Charges could still be brought against Jordan Jefferson, Chris Davenport, Josh Johns and Jarvis Landry as the investigation copntinues of their role in the fight, which sent four men to hospitals with injuries. The players were accompanied by attorneys Nathan Fisher and Shannon Fay.

"There were no charges promised and no charges not promised," Fisher said. "After today, I think they have some more investigating to do.

"We'll be back with them. If they have any further questions, they'll be back with us."

Fisher said the meeting lasted about three hours. He said he offered a video as evidence but police said it also had a video and declined. Fisher said his office has another video, which was not available at the time of the meeting.

Fisher said one video provided a timeline of the incident, which he said lasted approximately three minutes. The other video shows one of the victims' actions inside Shady's bar.

View full sizeThe fight occurred in the bar parking lot and started when the driver of a truck honked his horn at a group of people blocking his way.

The meeting was held away from BRPD by order of Baton Rouge Police Chief Dewayne White to avoid a media crush, but several reporters showed up anyway.

The BRPD release also clarified earlier statements about charges being filed. BRPD has not charged or arrested any of the players. But the injured parties have expressed a desire that those responsible for their injuries be arrested.

The police investigation is continuing and the release said police believe charges of second degree battery and simple battery will be appropriate when the case is concluded.

This intrigues me….The players now have film that show they were not involved? I’m starting to think that there is not enough evidence out there to convict the players and the police are just handling the matter with kid gloves because of who the accused are. I’ll be glad when all this is over.

It could also be the videos show different things, and what the police have shows all they really need to know.

I also wish we could all know exactly what the video shows. Which players did the fighting? Which ones were accomplices? Which ones, if any, tried to stop it?

Uhm…one…I seriously doubt the guy would take a felony charge for a group of people he has known for a few months. Two…I know his lawyer wouldn’t let him. Ethically he couldn’t.
It could also be the videos show different things, and what the police have shows all they really need to know.
Yes but in preparing for a case it would be ridiculous not to practice due diligence and see what the video has to offer…not to mention that if the video clearly shows they were not involved, or how it started it would have merit on the case and would be admissible at trail.
I also wish we could all know exactly what the video shows. Which players did the fighting? Which ones were accomplices? Which ones, if any, tried to stop it?
Same here, local boards are saying that one shows the “good Samaritan marine” sucker punching our punter in the bar before they stepped outside.

Also, people are saying that it shows T-Bob was clearly in the bar at the time of the fight, hence why his name has been dropped from the discussions even though the "witnesses" claimed he was one of the 4 involved.

I think NOLA was the one to come out with the false report that arrest were going to be made according to their inside source…not exactly the most reputable of all news sources but I’m so hungry for information on this I get it where I can.

I wasn't trying to disparage your source... just the fact that open message boards (in general) attached to large entities such as The Oregonian or The Times-Picayune are a mind numbing vile place to spend time... it was my first venture onto any site related to LA or LSU...

Same BS, different location ;)
