I suspect Ezeike is in play because USC doesn't have room for him if they get everyone else they want (thanks, Winston!). I'm starting to think that most of our football team would have gone to USC if only they had offered.

Some of it is also that Ezeike isn't feeling like the USC actually have a plan for him and just kinda using him as a backup plan.

Think it was more sources going cold with those close to the recruits who have information, which resulted in a bit of a blackout in information and made people think something was up. Considering Tucker still hasn't gotten an offer, seems the staff is thinking they can still pull in two of their upper-tier WRs.

I would go there if it weren't for USC mods/insiders reporting the exact same things. Maybe the Oregon staff wants to make a big splash and help keep the Williams ESPN2 commit a suspense thing. I think they could be manipulating, but they would have to be playing off USC's ignorance. Justin's site isn't really traffic based, so this would have to be the staff wanting to make things look bad so they could hit a home run on signing day.

I replied to Leavitt's "surprise" message today and asked if it was still on, and he DM'd me a thumbs up. LOL

I have no idea if he's just had too much Pepsi and is just trying to old man social media and build up the hype in general, but thought it was fun nonetheless. Leavitt and Feld are my two favorite guys on the staff.

I'm trying to figure out what Jhop has to do with anything. It isn't his fault if recruits change their minds as the situation changes. You just have to assume that they are all waiting to hear from USC and only committed to Oregon because they weren't a priority for the Trojans early in the cycle. Kind of like how Crocker was with OSU, while waiting for the ducks. THat's why I don't pay Jhop - he really doesn't know the ebbs and flows of USC's class and what spots will open up. If one were going to spend money, it would be better spent on USC insiders.

Oregon is going to lose the vast majority of those head-to-head recruiting battles with USC, so they should plan their recruiting strategy accordingly, and position themselves to get the guys that the Trojans missed in all of their star-chasing. It seems to me that's how Chip did it, and it worked pretty well.

This coaching staff are not a known quantity yet, and until they show they have the chops to compete in the conference, they are going to have a more difficult time closing. Altman gets recruits now because everyone knows he is one of the best coaches around. If Mullens really did hire Cristobal and company just to save a recruiting class, then the joke is on him (and us). Oregon has enough assets that if the word gets out that we have good coaches, the recruits will come. We're not there yet.

Great points and exactly how I feel. We just got to start winning again and build an identity, then highly rated recruits will start to flock to us and reduce the number of flips and in state losses.

From what I've been reading, it sounds like he's going to be signing with FSU. Oregon tried to get back in it once they knew Winston was gone but Miller and his family have made up whatever difference they had with Taggart and his staff over his recruitment. This is a case where Oregon could possibly have had someone if they'd just brought them out for an OV. The coaching change and readjustment in recruiting needs/wants from Taggart to Cristobal played havoc. Hopefully with no coaching change next year, things won't be so chaotic.

Another report that Devon Williams is gone to USC and Ezeike to UCLA. This is going to be a pretty light signing day.
