Ugh I hate when these conversations get into looooong posts because I never have the motivation to keep participating but I do enjoy discussing the topic (even if we all tend to get a little too hostile, myself included). Props to those of you willing to read through the posts and craft the necessary long responses.

Wheaton, I just want to applaud you especially because, while I do really disagree with you about pretty much every political issue I've ever seen you discuss (Ron Paul is the one GOP candidate I WOULD consider voting for over Obama haha), you do seem to genuinely care and you do present evidence when it's called for and you do seem intellectually honest. Of course, I'm not convinced by your posts (when are we ever convinced that we're wrong on politics?), but I just want you to know I respect them and you.

Can we make this thread "anything goes (except religion and politics)" instead? Because the last 4 pages have bored the everloving s*** out of me and made me lose faith in humanity in general.

I mean, if Duck07 has his own thread, I think it's his prerogative. If you made a Biggus Duckus thread, by all means keep politics at an arm's length.

Then the first step is for other nations to seek a Security Council Resolution against the US.

Unless we don't participate/allow it to happen. Ask Nicaragua.

The Banana Wars ended in 1934. The United Nations was formed in 1945.

Besides, I haven't argued that intervention is always justified or that the US has only engaged in justified interventions.

Afghanistan is an immoral war?

I'm pretty sure the peace types in the '90s were hailing Afghanistan as a place worthy of US intervention, not to mention the whole al-Qaeda thing.

I don't get that either. It's the only one that the US should have really gotten involved in. Iraq is somewhere we shouldn't have gone and forced the military to split their resources and attention. Afghanistan would probably be miles ahead of where it is had the US focused only there.

You guys can talk politics, but try to keep those 5 pages posts aimed at out-debating another 5 page post out of here. No one is going to read your crap except you and the person you are talking to. If you really want to talk to that person, PM them or something.
