Except when Coach Cal gets players it doesn't take till their Senior year for a big impact. I'm not trying to rag on Ernie, he was a good coach for us..but he isn't even close to Cal's level even if he had the same talent to coach with..Boom wrote:Coach Cal is Ernie Kent, but with better players

Oh yeah, Calipari can coach, there's no question about it. Ernie he is not. Is he sleazy? Well, yeah. But the man can coach.

Ernie and Cal really? They are both coaches, but that's where the comparison ends

If you could respect one thing about Kent is he ran a clean program with a majority of his players graduating on time or early.oregontrack wrote:Oh yeah, Calipari can coach, there's no question about it. Ernie he is not. Is he sleazy? Well, yeah. But the man can coach.

Back on topic....
Jabari Brown was pretty impressive. Still needs to improve his ball handling skills. Love how aggressive he was driving to the basket. He can get to the free throw line whenever he wants. His shooting mechanics are outstanding. He was one of the few players in the game who actually attempted to play some defense.
Jabari is going to be a monster.
Hate to say it, but Tony Wroten looked incredible. He's going to be a big addition for UW.

“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

Assuming Romar doesn't somehow screw him up... Even though there has been a ton of talent on the UW squad, it seems to under-perform at odd times.
Autzen Stadium... Where great teams go to die...Hard!

Hence the better players... I think he's had the #1 recruiting class the past 3 yrs now?TheMaehlMan wrote:Except when Coach Cal gets players it doesn't take till their Senior year for a big impact.Boom wrote:Coach Cal is Ernie Kent, but with better players
Considering Ernie has had only 2 teams that had similar level talent... and they went on to the elite eight... I would think he's at least close..TheMaehlMan wrote:I'm not trying to rag on Ernie, he was a good coach for us..but he isn't even close to Cal's level even if he had the same talent to coach with..
They both run similar PG dependent dribble drive spread the floor type offenses.... and I believe both are better at recruiting than they are at coaching.

And I agree JB looked great, especially his shooting but his inside game...my God man finish at the rim!
Man it sucks not landing Wroten (its too bad DA didn't get a chance to recruit him), because as you mentioned, he looked really good...damn you UDUB!

I don't really think it would have mattered had DA recruited him or not; he seemed like he would always end up at UW, even when he said he liked Oregon under Kent. Romar has a way with keeping local kids in-state.briarduck wrote:Finally watched the game...uostudent wrote:Back on topic....

Re: Watch Jabari this weekend
I was under the impression that EK did a great job recruiting him over the years and that he was a UO lean...but like you say maybe Romar had more pull idk. Either way the kid looked good and its too bad we didn't get him!greenyellow wrote:I don't really think it would have mattered had DA recruited him or not; he seemed like he would always end up at UW, even when he said he liked Oregon under Kent.
