I think that there is a very good possibility that your dream may come true. They have the money to go independent, and despite people wanting to admit it they have the national audience to do it to. If the BCS is willing to give them special consideration like ND…I willing to bet you they go independent.

Will it work out for them…absolutely not…they will essentially become Notre Dame. Think about…when was the last time Notre Dame has been relevant?

hmmmmmm.....I don't know. BYU left a Non-AQ though. I doubt they cared about getting a deal from the BCS. Texas would be leaving form a BCS conference, so I don't see them going without a chance to get an automatic bid.

I believe Texas would have a tough road swinging that type of deal due to the way the rest of the college football world already perceives the ND arrangement.

1) My brother and I hung were invited over by a bunch of Texas fans during the Holiday Bowl in 99 'sh... We thought for sure they were going to beat us up...but we were broke and they had beer. We hang out with them before and after Oregon's victory..

THEY WERE WAY COOL!!!

Been saying that for years now. Beer drinking, big truck driving, football loving, rednecks...god bless'em!!

They would be an outstanding addition to the PAC! Texas generates more revenue then any other college football team in the nation, it would further open the door for recruiting in Texas (jackpot), and bring a HUGE venue to the PAC. Oklahoma would be an outstanding addition as well. Those are the two best teams in the Big12...JACKPOT!!

Thats the culture in Oregon as a whole...with maybe the exception of Portland. Where I lived (Roseburg, Ore) if you drove 30 min in any direction there was a place to go mudding and/or shooting. I have heard it is very similar in Texas.

Off Topic: Shortly after I moved to Anchorage Ak, I found out that I had to drive twice as far to do that exact same stuff!! I thought this was the last frontier...However, once in the backwoods you had offroading opportunities like no other:

Hard to do that if you are in one of the big cities…but the majority of the area you can. When it isn’t bone dry that is. They have miles and miles of nothing.

There was a time, before the environmental impact forced a shutdown of the opportunities, that one could take a four wheeler or ATV onto the mud flats of just about any Oregon reservoir at low pool... There were even organized mud racing events at places like Fall Creek Reservoir for several years.

I'm sure that there are great Texas fans. They aren't the problem. The people running the program are.

Basically its guaranteed that the PAC* and SEC will be two of the big boys confs. Which begs the question, which will be the others.

If we are looking at 4 big confs you would probably have the big "10". That would leave the Big East or the ACC as the remaining of the Big 4. It would be interesting who blinks and who joins who. My guess is that it will be the ACC will be the one who survives.
