Well because it's really hard to do both. He CAN do it, but I'd rather him be able to focus on one high-stress job

Interesting that it doesn't have to be someone Kelly is familiar with.

I was just going to mention...Herb Hand Tulsa (http://www.tulsahurricane.com/sports/m- ... erb00.html) but I think he may have been mentiuoned above. Wow this guy looks great and is stuck in Tulsa!

per iDuck RM Blog (http://blogs.registerguard.com/cms/inde ... ts/spring/)
Tulsa’s offense had the #5 Rushing offense, #9 passing offense
and the #2 Scoring offense
With a 1st year starter at QB.

Not to shabby, lets go get this guy!

GO DUCKS!!

I bet it's going to be somebody that will make us say "huh?" Nobody around here heard of Chip before Bellotti got a hold of him, so I could really envision seeing him doing something similar. Maybe a great D2 coach/coordinator looking to take the leap...or even a good assistant coach at an offensively minded school. Whoever it is, I'm looking forward to it!

Well I won't argue with your logic Herb Hand (at Tulsa) is kinda like that...yes/no?

The truth is (IMO) I could care less where a candidate comes from as long as he preforms!

GO DUCKS!!

Autzen Stadium plus Jon Gruden? The noise and his intensity on the sidelines would be a site to see. Hey, he's said he wants to learn the spread. Chip's a new HC, Jon's a former NFL HC. Why not?

I have a hard time believing that Gruden would even consider being an OC at Oregon the fact that he has kids that I believe are in HS (most don't want to leave if they are in the middle of HS) and most fomer NFL coaches don't drop down to become college OCs. If he did come to Oregon, I could see the excitement and prestige of the football team become larger. I could see high-level recruits wanting to come so they could learn from Kelly and Gruden.

Gruden is interesting candidate, a self proclaimed footballl junkie who is excited about learning the spread. As grandpappy always said, it's better to get your hands dirty learning a task than watching others. What better way to learn a new system than this opportunity and study how it could be implemented in the Pros. Downside,..., he wouldn't be around long.

yea, i agree greydrake. i would only think gruden would be here for a short time, 2 years tops. it would be a way for kelly to get used to being the hc by having someone of his calibur on board with mike still close by.

How do you hire a Jon Gruden who can command more than we pay our entire coaching staff combined when he decides his vacation is over?

Maybe he'll promote Frost?
