I am not too sure. I only got wind of Kent getting let go. I'd think there'd be a chance but if the AD makes a good hire I could see them all staying.

And I will agree with you that after that first big class he didn't do a good job of adding a good player in each class after that to make the team great and I've said that many times...But he has so far this time adding to 3 star kids and the #5 SF in the country...Do that next year and this team is going to be a team to be reckoned with when these freshman are Junior's and Senior's especially if we're able to add that one impact freshman for there senior year like it seems every great team has...And I think we have legitimate shots at deep tourney runs and National Championships.

Yeah I agree with that. Mediocre wasn't the right word, he has done a good job of recruiting. I just don't understand why you think the next coach won't be able to recruit at all. Is there a reason for you thinking that?

Kent has had more money & resuorces than any of the coaches before him. His recruiting was at the level, IMO, it should have been. I don't see any reason for the recruiting to drop off with the next coach. Especially with the arena & Oregon Athletics altogether being at a peak that it's never been before. As long as Andy Ludwig isn't doing the recruiting there shouldn't be a huge drop-off.

If this is true, major props to Kilkenny. Horton for the baseball team, a new basketball arena, new basketball coaches, Kelly to head coach. It's been a huge year as far as news goes for duck sports.

I hope this isn't true, his graduation rates have been outstanding, he's brought Oregon basketball to mean something again and he's been bringing in some good talent. Of course, we have a new building and where have our recruiting classes been between the two big ones. I would've preferred Mike Montgomery last year, but this year I think Ernie deserves another chance. We may get somebody who can bring the program to bigger places, but just because we'll have a new building doesn't guarantee anything. He's been good for the program for quite a while and that deserves a chance to rebound from a horrible season.

The scary thing is that there is no guarantee. Even with a new shiny arena we could very well flop with a new coach. Especially if a few kids leave the program. (Dunigan, Humphrey, Crittle)

That's possible, but we could also continue to underachieve with Kent.

Does anyone know if the Athletic department is considering Mark Turgeon at Texas A&M? He was an assistant here at Oregon under Jerry Green & has done a great job at A&M.

He has just recruited at an unprecedented level and I just don't see it happening again. I'm not an I told you so guy, especially with Oregon sports cause that means I'm miserable too...I just think it's a bad decision and it's gonna cause us all to be miserable.

I really don't want to lose Dunigan, Humphrey, Crittlle, Wilson etc. I think them staying is more important than whether or not EK leaves right now. I think he should be given another year just so those core players don't leave and the program is set back even further. Wilson is a key player for this team's future and I just don't see him staying if EK is fired.

From Wilson's own comments, I have a feeling one of the assistants (Payne, most likely) is far more critical to JW being satisfied with Oregon, than the presence of EK.

Pretty sure assistants go with the head coach. Unless they promoted one of them to head coach which is unlikely.

I realize that, although I have seen occasions in the past where the attributes of the assistant caused him to be retained.

I'm not saying I expect anyone to be retained.
