luke luke luke... so much to learn my man... When Ethan breaks for his first TD and its like 85yd screen pass running behind some of the best blocking WRs in the country we will all be laughing heavily... And how would you know about David's athleticism? he has yet to perform at any camps or anything. The kid is a DE all the way, he will need a redshirt year and then he will be ready... What luke fails to understand also is the coaching ability here at Oregon and the consistency of the coaching... David is no where near where he will be once he gets to college. The kid had only played football for like 4 months, give him a break man.... And rankings are garbage, I don't rank kids at all I just put them in a category of if they can play D1 or not. We could sit here all day and try to rank everyone but the fact is it is impossible ESPECIALLY in a year like this. These guys rank kids to put up articles and make money, plain and simple. If you look at the kids who actually succeed at the next level it is almost always the kids that guys like this will put down.

Put it this way Oregon fans, if I like a kid Luke will have something negative to say every time. WHy he can't just be happy the kids are going to get a great education and do something for themselves is beyond me. At least these kids are staying off the street. And damn, your from florida you would think you would be happy for a local kid to get a big offer no one ever thought he could get.... I believe in Ethan, David and Issac to the fullest 100%.. These are good kids with great grades who are leaders on there teams... They are role models for the younger kids in there program, those are things you can't coach...

I don't think luke has a problem with the kids personally, I think he just thinks they're not good enough to receive a schollie. That's a valid opinion. You don't have to say a kid's going to be great just because you're happy for them. There's a difference.

agree to disagree is the saying I'm thinking applies here.
excellent points fellas backed with legit arguments. please try to make sure we don't make this a personal battle with one another.
I can say this: as an Oregon fan I never thought we would be in this position with Florida recruits in a million years. great day to be a duck!

well i guess listen to him then. It is just funny because Ethan Grant has been a star since pee wee league. Go to any park and they know who he is. And Florida was in touch with him last week and Coach Gonzalez was asking if he would official to UF and come to FNL... obviously if these guys are wasting time to touch base with him he must be good enough for them. Coaches don't waste precious minutes on a phone with someone they don't think can play for them, plain and simple. The fact that Gonzalez spent 45 min of his time talking to him on the phone is all I need to know. The fact that when he was at FSU camp last year they invited him up to see the football offices and all that is another reason why I already know. These guys don't waste time. The fact that David pretty much has offers from the likes of LSU and FSU is all I need to know. I was in the room when the FSU coaches were talking to him (me, 2 fsu coaches and david) and they flat out told him he is a top 10 pick when he is ready for the draft... does Coley just tell every kid that? Doubtful.

As for Issac, who knows... by next month he might have 10 offers, then what? I haven't even gotten on the phone for Issac yet, if I really wanted to I could get him 10 offers easy.

I'm with you primedime. Coaches are the ultimate measuring stick for these players IMO. If a coaches from big time programs like you mentionrd are giving these kids praise, that's all I need to know. Do you really think Kelly would have offered Grant that early & got him out for an unofficial if he wasn't Oregon caliber? C'mon, Chip knows & can see talent better than any nerd ball "talent evaluator" on Rivals, Scout or any recruiting site.

Luke S. wrote: I just think Oregon could have gotten the same player if not better from Cali or other western states. Straight line speed is great, but his change of direction isn't there. I'm also wanting to see those impressive track times on the football field.
http://recruiting.scout.com/2/854484.html

"Grant has exceptional acceleration, and he has the very rare talent of being able to make cuts at full speed. When watching him play a game, it's a common sight to see him taking a toss sweep at full speed towards the sideline, then with a sharp cut, change his direction and cut inside a pursuing defender."

One of the things that I was most impressed with in Grant's video was his ability to change direction. He had some amazing moves in the videos that I saw and some incredible speed on top of that. Your description of him really doesn't jive with what I saw in his tapes.

I respectfuly disagree with Luke S. regarding Ethan Grant. I've posted that I felt that one of his primary strengths is his ability to cut at full speed using "choppy feet", which will help keep his knees and ankles injury free, and will help him keep his footing in poor weather. The #1 thing I like about Ethan is that he realy wants to be a Duck. You can be assured with kids like this that you are getting an athlete that will work hard in the gym and in the classroom to develop. We don't want kids that come in as superstars and don't develop.

In regards to the other athletes we're talking about, I don't know much about them to have an opinion. I don't think we can have a better pair of athletes being our "Class of 2010" flagship than Grant and White.
