I understand what you're saying. The other side of that coin though, is that for every "Duke LaCrosse" scandal there is probably a vast majority of complaints that are legitimate.
This is such a tragedy. It should have been fully investigated and fleshed out. The poor young woman and family deserved true due-process and not the sham of an investigation they received. The obvious perception that it was not fully investigated to protect football is sickening. Especially for those of us who truly love the game.
I would like to point out that I believer MFR is correct. This is happening all over the country. I find it in poor taste that sports fans would prop this up as an excuse to vindicate their sport-based-hate for ND. It is a societal problem that reaches much farther than that.

I personally don't give a crap who USC beat or anyone else back in the day.

the sec is not "your" team. i may root for the pac 12 in other games but i would never claim that we have won all this when usc does something good. or claim to be proud when they were a dynasty and won multiple titles. sec being we mindset is pretty dumb

Like I said, I understand you all not getting the "we" thing when you all basically just don't have the same to brag about. I wouldn't likely be proud and chest thump about the PAC either since your only title winner in the BCS system had to the first and only team to vacate their title. Haters gonna hate...brush them haters off.
Now all jokes aside, you all do the same thing. Since I've been here I've hear that y'all (meaning your conference) was the best, your athletes were superior, and it is complete SEC hype that keeps the PAC from excelling. You all chest bump too, you just do it in a different way. Down here we are proud to play in a conference and brag about things that our conference has accomplished...and...from what I have seen around here you all do the same.
