Those are four of the loudest stadiums in the nation, not to mention that their own stadium seats 100,000. They are kind of use to that kind of environment. Not taking anything from Autzen by the way! Your stadium is on my short list of "dream trip" visits. As soon as I can I want to travel over to y'all play in a conference game.
Yeah they do play there, and they don't win those games. They are 0 for their last 11 in those stadiums, winless since September 2006. That's 85 games ago for them.
Teams with more wins than tennessee in those four stadiums in that time:
Kentucky
Georgia tech
Mississippi state
Ole miss
Tamu
La Monroe
Arkansas

Good post. Not to mention our non conference home schedule has sucked as of late. It will be louder and more packed than your average game. That won't bode well with the Volunteers.

I think Oregon wins by 20 if we play in a peaceful meadow with only their mothers watching. The last time we played, we beat them by more than any team ever has at their stadium. They're worse now. We are just as good and at home.

To play devil's advocate, the Tennessee game was pretty close still midway through the 3rd quarter. But it's true, Oregon will walk over the vols (As long as we are healthy).

Though yes, the travel time and distance, the fact that they are playing in a different time, and the hostile environment are all in your favor. Though it isn't going to win it for you....a guy that should be on everyone's Heisman watch list named Marcus Mariota will win it for you in my opinion.
karlhungis wrote:You have a different definition for a trap game than I do. I have always thought that the general consensus was that a trap game is essentially a team that you would overlook for various reasons, and there is not a chance in hell that Oregon would overlook an SEC team with the name recognition of Tennessee coming to Autzen.
I don’t think we are differing in “definition”, I believe we are simply analyzing the situation differently. I think because of how the Vols performed last year, (i.e. finishing second to last in the SEC East with a losing record of 5-7) , the way y’all “butch slapped “ them in their house 41-14 in ’10, and the thought process of “it’s no way they can be good, all of their starters left” sets this up as a game that the players may overlook this game. Coupled that with the fact that this game is at Autzen and is sandwiched between a long away trip to Virginia and your conference opener, it has all the making of a trap game.
Everyone and their mama is going to have the Ducks winning with ease, likely playing their 2nd string in the 4th, (and I think they will) and I think that adds to the “trap” game feel.
UOducksTK1 wrote:Meh Tennessee hasn't won on the road since 2010 against Vanderbilt.
Tennessee on the other hand loses their best offensive player in Bray, no way they can keep up with us. Their defense is terrible. Only way this game is within two scores is if Oregon calls it off in the 4th quarter, and Tennessee gets some pity points.
Tennessee has WAY too much going against them by the time they enter Autzen.
See, there it is, fans and players are going to go into this thinking that, as my man TK1 here said, "Tennessee has WAY too much going against them" , thus setting it up to be a "we got this, who's next" vib.

thanks
With all of the above being said…perhaps referring to this as a “trap” game was a misnomer. We could argue the semantics of the term all day but my original thought behind my post is that the Vols may be posed to “upset” (which may in fact be the better term) your Ducks. I'll try to be more careful with my "buzz" words in the future.

That's an awful lot of words you just used.

Correct, but intimidation from a big loud crowed had nothing to do with it. Tenn is 4-20 against those 4 teams since 2006. To be fair some games were really close down to the wire and 5 of those loses were to a team that would go on and win the National Championship. In short, Tenn has simply not been a power house in the SEC for over a decade. They have put together some winning seasons and have played some good games but they are simply middle of the road.
Below are the games with results:
2012
@ Georgia lost 51-44 L
Florida 37-20 L
Bama (national Champ) 44-13 L
2011
@ Florida 33-23 L
Georgia 20-12 L
LSU 38-7 L
@ Bama (National Champ) 37-6 L
2010
Florida 31-17 L
@LSU 16-14 L (Actually should of won this one, penalty on the 1 yard line gave us a second chance)
@ Georgia 41-10 L
Bama 41-10 L
2009
@ Florida 23-13 L
Georgia 45-19 W
Bama (National Champ) 12-10 L
2008
Florida (National Champ) 30-6 L
@ Georgia 26-14 L
@ Bama 29-9 L
2007
@ Florida 59-20 L
Georgia 35-14 W
Bama 41-17 L
2006
Florida (National Champ) 21-20 L
@Georgia 51-33 W
Bama 16-13 W
LSU 28-24 L

Being a season ticket holder for 18 years now. I can't help from thinking sometimes these stories keep living even though reality changes. Autzen has never seemed as loud since around the time of the expansion. Not sure if it is the design (removing dirt with concrete and portals) adding a ton more sky boxes that I don't think create much noise, jacking up prices to pay for it and changing some of the demographics of the fans in the seats. Or maybe just the ducks have become good so the fans don't feel like they have to scream at the top of their lungs every defensive play to give our team the edge like we use to pride ourselves in. Heck, maybe I have just become older and do not put as much effort as I use to. I've been to enough road games to know this Autzen advantage is a bit over blown these days.

meh, I don't buy that. The Dixon 07 season against Oklahoma and USC and ASU was insanely loud. Fresno State and USC (first half) during the Clemens year was also deafening. I will admit though, the last 4-5 years have been very quiet. I would bring friends to games and brag how loud Autzen is, but it really wasn't that loud. I could still hear people talking, an wasn't popping like it was from 05-07 in the big games.
We've had this discussion a lot, but I still think it's because a lot of the true duck fan base can't afford to go to the big games, so we see a lot of fans who are just there because it's a big game and won't scream and stand for the whole game. Another factor is winning. When you win, and by so much, you get spoiled. You think there's less incentive for you to cheer since Oregon will roll whoever they are playing.
I might be jumping the gun, because I never went to games before the 2004 season, but there's been a season here or there that have been crazy loud. I do admit though, that the last 4-5 years have been awful.

How much are they going for and does your season tickets holders have to pay an additional fee? I think I've asked this before but can't remember.

There is a per/seat donation required for season tickets, depending on your section, from $100 per seat to $1,800. Here's a link that describes it...

$99 per ticket!! That's insane! Every year we have two $75 games, all the rest of the conference games are $55 and cupcake games are $45. TAF fee is $200 per ticket for the endzones and range between $500 - $1,000 per i think for the side lines.

Season tickets at my alma mater are $85 for GA lol
I really like autzen, but I'd rather go to six usu games instead of one Oregon game. I'd do both if I were rich though.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous. Single game tickets (in 05) when I first started going were about half that.

Y'all need some more damn seats to help spread out that cost!
