Portland has been talking to Chris Kaman and he'd def be a cheap veteran C.
Meh Thomas is still young, but dude can't shoot FTs and although it's been only one year, he's looking like a bust. Hopefully he can shock people and contribute in a positive way this season.
It took him a year of school to become a good player there as well.
it shouldn't be a shock to anyone if he plays well. dude was a top 5 pick. sacramento is a cesspool and he didn't get much run in houston. I wouldn't put much stock in that throw away of a rookie season.
Rip Hamilton was waived by the Bulls. If he doesn't take a contract with a contender and Olshey's moves leave the room to sign him after everything else is done, he'd be a great mentor for the young guards.
bird wants to explore deals involving granger, but unless something really jumps out i'd like to hold onto him and use him in a 6th man role. indy's starting five was going toe-to-toe with miami, but they got in trouble when they had to go to the bench. no scoring punch. the starting unit is a terrific blend of scoring, defense, and rebounding; i wouldn't mess with it. granger + a legitimate backup point could do wonders staying ahead of the knicks and competing alongside what should be much improved nets and bulls teams in that fight to get the #2 and avoid miami.

UCLA must have paid Boston to hire him. This way in 3 years when Alford has worn out his welcome the celtics will be firing Stevens and they can snag him.

re: lopez, if the rumored 3-way deal between sac-town and new orleans and us goes down, we'll get lopez for nothing. i mean, outside of the big cap hit we'll take.
the good news is that he's not older than father time, like most of the UFA 5's we've been connected to. though he's not anywhere in brother's stratosphere, he's not a complete black hole offensively. he's fairly athletic and averaged a career high in minutes, points, rebounds, blocks -- just about everything. he played so well with the hornets, in fact, monty williams chose to develop anthony davis a little at the 4 b/c lopez was chugging along nicely alongside him.
the bad news is that he's not a plus rebounder or defender. i can't imagine a scenario where stotts can keep him in during a close game late. lma is going to have to man up and play a little 5, should this deal go through.
If you believe what Aldridge is saying, he just wants to win and didn't ask for a trade. With our draft and a couple of additions this team could be a playoff team next year with a solid core of young guys going forward.
