With the deadline for early entrant looming today we do have one we know that is going to be entering the draft. Sophomore Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, of Louisiana State, upon hearing that Shaq did not qualify to possibly join him for his senior year has declared he intends to enter the NBA draft. The high scoring Abdul-Rauf leads his team in both rebounds and assists. He has led the Tigers to 20 wins and a likely NCAA tourney berth.

With the early entrant deadline passed the high schoolers and young college stars have made up their minds leaving early and going professional. We can now announce the early entrants for the 1990 NBA draft:
Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, G, LSU, Sophomore
Duane Causwell, C, Temple, Junior
Carl Herrera, F/C, Houston, Junior
Sean Higgins, F, Michigan, Junior
Marcus Liberty, F, Illinois, Junior
Jerrod Mustaf, F/C, Maryland, Sophomore
Dennis Scott, G/F, Georgia Tech, Junior
Derek Strong, F/C, Xavier, Junior
Kenny Williams, F, Elizabeth City State, Sophomore
Later in the day we are expected to be able to announce the incoming internationals. With names such as Divac and Kukoc 1990 should be another solid, though not as heralded as last year's, class.

Some of these names bring back memories. I remember Marcus Liberty was supposed to be such a stud and then just sort of fizzled.

Despite rumors of cavorting with pro agents, Shaquille O'Neal has, after long consultation with his family, is to pursue both his pro basketball dreams and his desire to join the Police ranks when he has hung up his size 21 sneakers. To that end he will be attending home town Junior College San Antonio College to seek a 2 year associates degree in Criminal Justice.

As expected the international list has been received here at Draftwatch. Here follows the international prospects that will be entering the NBA Draft:
Vlade Divac, C, Yugoslavia, 1968
Toni Kukoc, F, Yugoslovia, 1968
Stefano Rusconi, F/C, Itialy, 1968
Stojko Vrankovic, C, Yugoslavia, 1964
Little on the small side, to be sure as compered to last year, but several interesting names that should make waves in the league next year. Divac, Kukoc and Vrankovic are all expected to be gone by the end of the lottery.
