just relax everyone, he would be shorting himself if he didn't listen to what all schools have to say... in the end he will be a duck, for now he is just window shopping.... the main reason is that a lot of people doubt him down here in florida and he wants to prove to everyone he can play anywhere... if he didn't go out to camps and prove himself we would have guys like LStamp from soflafootball.com saying how overrated he is... when he gets here he will be a proven hot commodity and it will make Oregon look that much better...

What happened to his uncle saying how he was so committed and how we can trust him it is a done deal and all that other crap.

Haven't you ever seen "Jerry McGuire"?

This is what happens in recruiting every year guys. The stress is just too intense to worry about this kind of stuff. Wait and see what happens on signing day. Actually, even that doesn't matter, the final proof of whether a player was a good prospect or not won't usually happen until 2-3 years after signing day.

Our top picks in this years NFL draft were only 3 star recruits. Actually, I think Byrd was only a 2, unless I'm mistaken.

In a perfect world we'd get a couple dozen 4/5 star recruits every year, but that's not reality. I still have a lot of confidence that the coaching staff will do a fantastic job finding and developing players that fit at the University of Oregon.

Now, I'm off to take a sedative.

If Mops says not he is still going to be a Duck then I'm not worried. After all when everyone else wrote off Diante, Mops stuck to his story and he was right.

That's actually a very good point. Grant visiting camps/schools and getting his name out there will only make him a bigger/better player, which could actually help our recruiting and team ranking.

Let him build up his stock, get some free visits and meet other top recruits that he can then try to bring here with him. Sounds like a great plan.

It sure would be fun watching him accell in our offense, but let him enjoy the recruiting process that you only get to do once in a lifetime. He's sounded very excited about Oregon in every article I've read. Let's hope he still has his Oregon "O" sticker on his car.

now rivals is reporting Grant is strong with Oregon, still committed, and keeping the O sticker on his car. Also DT/Mops cleared it up with him earlier yesterday.

What 17-18 yo would turn down 5 free trips to different schools? He gets flown in, eats for free and gets to hang out with older girls? 8-) Have a good time Ethan, just make sure your LOI is delivered to Eugene next Feb.

As Mops mentioned there is someone down in FLA that says Grant is still committed to us and that he didn't really like his visit as much as it is being portrayed. You have to remember that a lot of these stories are written by "Homers" that make it absolutely crystal clear that they are fans of (Insert team) and often times the questions they ask are phrased in a way that no matter how the recruit being interviewed answers the question it will sound good to the writers/teams fan base. Ethan Grant is one of the fastest kids in the country so stories like this are going to be pretty frequent IMO.
The best thing that we can do to keep guys like Ethan Grant committed to us and catch the eye of other recruits we want to come to Oregon is:

* Have another good season (8+ wins)

* When we are on national TV take advantage of the exposure and give recruits who may not know much about Oregon a sense of what Duck football is all about

* Go to a good Bowl Game

* Continue to put up big numbers offensively (400+ yds a game, 35+ pts a game, etc) and show recruits that our system does work and that if they come to Oregon they too can put up big numbers statistically.

If we can do those things I truly believe that we will be just fine come LOI day this coming February.
