I have no idea what the point is. From everything I've read they are essentially meaningless. Maybe if a school gets a major violation they would get in more trouble if they have had a bunch of minor violations too but less trouble if the major was their only recent violation??
The NCAA is becoming a joke and it sucks for schools like Oregon who do it right while others are able to cheat and gain an advantage.
Agreed. This is like the NCAA saying, "I swear, if you guys make fun of me 13 or 14 more times...I'm outta here!"
I don't care what people say, BASEketball was a great movie.

Thanks...
I'm guessing that it's only coaches that are certified recruiters. Basically anybody else who has a connection to a school is deemed a "booster" and are not supposed to "recruit" for the school. They can have contact but not for the purpose of recruiting, which is basically what you're asking I assume.
So I would say that it's coaches and AD while on campus but only the coaches that are certified or whatever it's called can do off campus evaluation and in home visits. Lots of gray area. For instance, what if Jonathan Stewart just happens to be on campus working out when Lattimore visits? They just "happen" to bump into each other. Is it against the rules for Jonathan to give his opinion on how it was playing at Oregon? Probably depends on the NCAA official.
some michigan site wrote: A recent mailing issued by U of M, which is still feeling the stings of the decade-old Ed Martin scandal, reminds Wolverine fans that their involvement with potential student-athletes should be handled delicately. Bullet No. 5 might be of particular interest to more than a few of the 100,000-plus who pack the Big House on Saturdays in the fall. The brochure states:
You are a representative of Michigan’s athletics interests, commonly known as a “booster,” if you meet any of the following conditions:
-You are a member of any agency or organization that promotes Michigan athletics programs.
-You have made a financial contribution to Michigan athletics or its booster organizations.
-You have assisted in the recruitment of prospects for Michigan.
-You have provided benefits (e.g.-jobs, occasional meals) to enrolled student-athletes.
-You have purchased season tickets for any Michigan athletics program.
-You have ever, in any way, promoted the athletics program at Michigan.
The pamphlet goes on to inform boosters what they can and cannot do under NCAA guidelines. Fans may notify Michigan coaches of outstanding prospects, and may attend an event involving the prospect as long as no recruiting occurs. But they may not contact a prospect, or their relatives, for the purposes of recruiting, nor may they provide a prospect, their relatives, friends or coaches with any benefits.

1) What happened with Andre Dawson? Why have we not offered? And is it because we feel confident about McConico or one of the others?
2) Lache Seastrunk shows us as a medium in Rivals. A snowflakes chance in Hades we get this guy?
3) If we whiff on the big guys again, what are out options at the JC level?

Mike Hayes would be a great JC back and he has us on top right now (but no offer)

Thanks... I guess I was wondering about the AD/Bellotti more than anything... It makes sense that the AD can talk to a recruit and their family while on official visits... That seems like a nice little advantage for us, basically two "head coaches" being able to visit with the kids/families.
I like the idea of JStew just happening to be on campus when Lattimore is here, maybe Dixon can just happen to be here when Gonzales and Munchie are in the house... hahaha

1. Dawson was never on the radar. Oregon does feel confident about the RB situation. McConnico does not have a commitable offer.
2. Not even a snowflakes chance. Lattimore on the other hand...
3. Mike Hayes out of Blinn College is the only RB receiving serious attention from Oregon at this point in time.

Too bad Hayes' QB,Cameron Newton, isn't a possibility. Former 5* dual threat, 6'6/247/4.5... Originally signed with Florida, then left after a fiasco involving possession of a stolen laptop. Redshirted at Florida, then transferred to Blinn after being suspended mid-season.

“This tremendously talented young man sincerely wants a chance to do well,” Franchione said. “We are excited about his future at Blinn and intend to give him every opportunity to succeed in school, athletics, and life.”
Sounds like a really stupid incident:

University of Florida police arrested sophomore quarterback Cameron Newton on Friday afternoon for felony charges of burglary, larceny and obstruction of justice, according to Alachua County jail records.
The officers stepped away from Newton's room to call and ask the student if the serial numbers matched, but the computer was gone when they returned to Newton's room, according to the report. The computer was later found by a garbage dumpster outside of the Springs Complex, where Newton lived on the third floor, according to the report.
Dumb.

He got suspended at Florida with only one arrest? 21 players have been arrested in Urban Meyers 4 year tenure and more have been booked on charges. Many were only suspended for a single game despite multiple problems with the law. A cynical person might think the suspension had more to do with lack of talent rather than a simple mistake.

The question was about JC RBs. He's the only JC RB receiving serious attention.
