Guys, it's ok, the sites have to list a player as a soft verbal if he takes another visit somewhere, standard rule, it is not coming from the player necessarily, just the site admin's.

He will visit Cal and USC according to a post on educk. I don't like that.

Doubt he takes the USC trip, since Mays stayed. I would worry about Cal. Crim or Leon we'll get one of them.

Good to know for now, but I don't know how much that means unless he stops taking trips. Basically what it means is that he likes Oregon best for now, but if he likes any of the other schools he visits better, he will go there. Not really much of a "commitment".

If you were an 18 year old kid (well maybe you are) you would be taking these trips as well. Not only to explore and see what else is out there, but I imagine they are just a lot of fun. Meeting coaches and players, seeing the cities, universities, stadiums, facilities, etc. If you are a top recruit its better not to burn any bridges. You never know who you will be playing with/for in the future.

Hmmmm, maybe Leon won't qualify? That sucks if it's true.

Are Oregon's admission requirements really that much harder than Arkansas? Seems weird that different D1 schools have differing requirements with the obvisous exceptions of Stanford, etc.

Thing is, Oregon seems to invest a lot of their time in recruiting the top JC talent. That's fine, but it really seems to be hit or miss with these guys. Either they really excel(Blount, Masoli, etc) or they fail to qualify(Thompson, Wade, Fili, etc).

How he can qualify for Arkansas but not for Oregon blows my mind. Something has got to give here.

That's because he visited. Anytime a committed player visits somewhere, he automatically gets bumped to 'soft verbal'.

I posted this moments ago to Rob on his story about Byrd.

Rob how “less likely” are we talking about for Leon? That is as huge of a blow as Byrd leaving early. What a bummer day.

J:My understanding is, he’s a longshot. Given the recent swings and misses with some JC guys, there’s a sense that admissions is really tightening up its junior college standards.

If that's true, JC players should be a last resort. I know they have gotten us a lot of talent over the years, but they are unreliable.
