Hey, kid!
Come to CornValley and block for the greatest running back in NCAA history! You might get him an 8 yard TD run!

Every year I get suprised by a couple of kids....... but this is unreal!!! Why would he choose OSU? It smells of a confidence issue to me. He believes he can start next year at OSU and not at Stanford? I wonder if we made the mistake of believing we had not shot and he was a done deal to Stanford. Not second guessing anyone but I sure hope we didn't let up.

Lets face it, the Beavs are winning games, Riley has an outstanding reputation, and they have upgraded the facilities. They are going to start getting a better type of recruit, and from time to time snag a good one.
Give em their props.

I agree, Riley is a good coach, the Beavers staff are good at developing their players and the team is winning games. I don't think any of us would be suprised for them to snag a couple of 4* players but I think most everybody on here thought Phillip would be a Tree or a Duck. To turn down the academics at Stanford for 4 years of time spent in Corvalis is behind belief.wlduck wrote:Lets face it, the Beavs are winning games, Riley has an outstanding reputation, and they have upgraded the facilities. Yeah, I think he surprised everybody. But the rodents will have to be taken more seriously in the recruiting business going forward.

It's going to take more than the beevs getting one 4* lineman for me to take them seriously in recruiting. They always will get one or 4* kids just because they are a Pac-10 school. They will continue to be way below Oregon in talent, speed, strength, etc.

What's amazing about Oregon state is that they don't have a lot of the luxuries that the other pac-10 schools have, yet they have been a pretty darn good football team the past decade or so. Still, I would really like to hear from Phillip why he chose the Beavers over Stanford.

"Let's see, I'm a 4-star o-lineman from California;
under the scarlet hat there is an up-and-coming program, a very good coach, education from a top-5 institution in the country.
Under the green hat is a top-10 ranking along with best facilities, top-rated o-line coach and 2nd-best rushing Offense in the country.
under the orange hat is a decent 9-win program and...uhhhh...I don't know why, but gosh-darnit I'm picking the orange hat."
All I've got is he got his U of O and OSU mixed up.

Fortunately, (and I'm thinking only of the young man) he still has time to de-commit.

No joke, for his sake I would rather see him at Stanford than in Corvallis.monster wrote:Fortunately, (and I'm thinking only of the young man) he still has time to de-commit.
