He's retweeted some Oregon stuff in the past few weeks, but I can't tell if it's because he was supporting his teammate Andrew Faoliu's Duck commitment or there's genuine interest.

Is this possible Jim Leavitt’s massive secret he has that he promised to tell us in February?

I think Solo is a long-shot at best. I'll be shocked beyond belief if that's who Leavitt is talking about.

I can’t understand why none of these top guys in oregon want to represent their home state? There’s no loyalty to the home state and represent, except for a very few. Plenty of kids in california stay home and represent, even when ucla and usc were down programs. I can kind of understand from an educational aspect, ucla and notre dame are a little better than oregon, but they are not a stanford or northwestern. If education is your top priority, go be a cardinal.
Thinking back, it makes me really respect kids like buddah baker, even tho he flipped on us. He turned down oregon when we were on the top of college football. Instead he chose his home team when it was still in the gutters, believing he could help turn the program around, make a lasting difference, and represent his home state.
Hufanga was the top guy i wish we could have gotten out of the three in state misses. Its weird that he said he would announce on 12/28 but wouldnt sign until feb. I do wonder what made him sign early and not give it some time until feb? (Our bowl game embarrashment? Big difference between new head coach? Coaching changes?) Now that i ve let out all my frustration and disappointment, i hope that we can close on many of our top targets we still have left and move ahead.

Apparently we led before Taggart left.

If you weren’t a Duck fan and had your choice to go to any school you wanted, free of cost, would Oregon really be that appealing? USC is better academically, has had recent success (at least better than Oregon), has a family connection with a cousin on the DL, a strong Poly connection at USC, better weather...the list goes on and on. Oregon has the Nike connection and crazy facilities. If I was a 5* and had no real connection to UO other than I grew up in Oregon, I can’t say UO would be at the top of my list either, to be honest.

I don't mean to make this about me, but I want to illustrate this point.
The sentiment of Oregon not being highly desirable to live in by Oregonians doesn't stop at 18, from what I can tell. I just recently moved back from New York City after about 7 years away, and nearly every old friend I've spoken to has asked "So, why did you move back" in a tone that seemed to imply that someone in my family must be sick, or I must have lost a job, or some other negative set of circumstances brought me to Portland. Truth is, it's none of the above, and because of my field I could basically live anywhere I want to, domestic or abroad, so long as business in conducted in English. It seems that I might be a rare bird who just likes it here.
Oregonians seem to all agree that Oregon is the prettiest place in the country, but I would say that there's an undertone that exists that there are 'better' places, and if an opportunity comes up in California, Boston-NYC-DC, or even Seattle, you go. I don't think this is at all limited to just high school football players.

I think Oregon is a great family state and has many redeeming qualities. I'm 31 and a large percentage of my graduating high school class went to school in either Seattle or LA. Most of them have come back to settle down and raise their families here but from 18-25 wanted to branch out and try something different.

I also think that in general, people from Oregon are more open-minded to explore other areas. People love it here but they also want to check out other places. I LOVE Oregon but I can see myself moving away for a bit.

I went away to do something different and for academics. If I had been a college level football player, I would have stayed to play for UO. UO has everything you could ever want for football reasons. I do however understand wanting to go away for college and see something different at that age.

Bright lights of the City?? SC is close to downtown LA, but the area around SC is a war zone. Just ask DAT's mom why she wanted her son to get away from that area.
Getting to Hollywood is a hoof. And dont get me started with the traffic on the 110 Freeway. Bumper to bumper 24/7. I cant for the life of me understand anyone wanting to go to that school. UCLA, well thats another matter. Beautiful campus and Brentwood. Playing at the Rose Bowl and not the rotting Coliseum, no question i'd go to UCLA. The one thing SC has are the alumni, you're set when you graduate. Oregon has Nike, but really how many opportunities are there? Oregon has one of the best campuses, and surrounding areas, on the west coast. Right there with Stanford.

Yea I know that. But yet they go there. Doesn't make sense to me why.

Don’t know anything about the inner circles of recruiting or college athletics but I am an Oregonian. I moved from Oregon when I was 18 and joined the Navy. After 10 years my wife died and I separated from the service and became a single parent so I moved back home since her and my family lived there and gave me all the necessary help and support. I have always hated Oregon and if the past never happened I would of never came back. To me Oregon is beautiful but boring. The opportunities for children suck unless you live in a wealthy community and city.
Only the true outdoorsman/hunter can truly enjoy what Oregon has to offer.
In my area there has only been two really good football guys one went to usc and the other to Oregon (Troy P, and Josh Bidwell). I’d say most guys want to be where the fun and excitement is.
Lastly if the colleges here want to attract better athletes then change what you have to offer. Oregon has no engineering program which has always pissed me off.
Just my two cents of rambling.
