Figure after the struggles recruiting there the past 2 seasons that we've got to have some kids that want to play for us there next season.
For whatever reasons, Oregon just isn't in it for many top pure WRs so far, especially like some of the ones they were after last year (Devon Williams, Battle, Harrison, and Thompson.) I'm hoping recruiting for the offense picks up soon.

Have we ever had a WR come through our program that has had any success at the next level? That can't help our recruiting with these elite recruits.

It's a fair point. It's the one position we really haven't been able to produce NFL talent.

We've had a few WRs who have been WR3/WR4 types (Samie Parker, Josh Huff, De'Anthony Thomas) but no big-time players.

Sure, lasted only 3-4 seasons though. Demetrius Williams too.

Oh yeah I'm agreeing with you, our WR track record is definitely pretty weak.

Wonder why that is. A result of our offensive style?

I think it's a negative recruiting and the perception that we are a running team

But if NFL is a high priority for WR recruits, then it's true. Perception and negative recruiting are justified.

If we developed NFL ready receivers in our system, then they would end up on NFL rosters. The fact is, we don't. We have been a running team. Our receivers were best when they were blocking. The problem is we don't run the same offense any longer but our past history is still hampering our current recruiting.

How many decent wide receivers bit the dust before Dennis Dixon blew his ACL in '07?

What does it matter? Evidently the coaching staff rolls out a serious red carpet for some of these recruits. It is ridiculous, but hopefully it continues to work. Crazy how recruiting has changed in the last few years. Can you even imagine Kelly rolling out all the coaches, lighting up Autzen, for one player? Damn times have changed.

If Chip had put this level of effort into recruiting, perhaps he would have beat Ohio State in the Rose Bowl and Auburn in the Champ game. Who knows, there would probably have been enough talent still around to win a second Champ game after ditching the school for the league. Maybe this change should have happened years ago.
