Toney Hurd

Maybe we're looking at him as a Free Safety? Ward is a Sr. after all.

But we have boyett and I don't think he will lose that position

Boyett plays Strong Safety. Rule #1 in recruiting, always recruit the best players you can, don't worry about who's starting or projected depth charts.

I mean, who thought we would be down to our True Frosh prized DB this year as our starter?

Same deal with this kid, Mathis, and A.Patterson from last years recruits. Get the best players you can, let competition, the season, and injuries sort 'em out later!

Boyett plays FS. But I agree with your take on recruiting the best athletes and not worrying about the DC.

My bad, Boyett is FS.

My money is Troy Hill will be the next CB to commit to Oregon.

Bummer !!

ESPNU 150 cornerback Toney Hurd Jr. (Missouri City, Texas/Marshall) has committed to sign with Notre Dame's Class of 2010, ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com reports.

He selected the Irish over Florida State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Auburn and Ole Miss. Oklahoma, Tennessee and Cal amongst others also offered.

"I know the academic numbers talk, and among other schools there is no comparison," said Hurd. "After that, the tradition. No matter how the win-loss column looks, they have a great support system with the fans and the community."
