After tonight's game I'm thinking Mariota needs to stay out of Denver. This isn't even a good KC defense.

But with the Mahones injury pending there's a lot of buzz about Mariota to KC potentially.squintsdd wrote:After tonight's game I'm thinking Mariota needs to stay out of Denver. This isn't even a good KC defense.

He dislocated his knee cap. Mahomes will maybe miss a week. KC would be a terrible location for Mariota to go. I also fail to see how there could be a lot of buzz about this when it's been less than 5 hours.mrpd21 wrote:But with the Mahones injury pending there's a lot of buzz about Mariota to KC potentially.squintsdd wrote:After tonight's game I'm thinking Mariota needs to stay out of Denver. Re: Tannehill replaces Mariota
I saw one article mention the possibility.
KC has 10 days before their next tilt. Time enough for a minor patellar injury to recuperate, assuming no significant soft tissue damage.
Also plenty of time for whomever the backup is to greatly improve connections with the receiving corps.
The ball is in KC's court.

I am so close to saying "anywhere would be better for Marcus, just get out of Tennessee!" But I will still leave it at almost anywhere, but can't think of a reason why....... Tennessee is a cluster......
Would any of you guys/gals tell Marcus to stay in Tennessee rather than going to......?

I should have mentioned the buzz was no major media source, mostly everywhere on social media. I did see the projections for Mahomes were minimum 3 weeks so there may be something to it...who knows.

Why would Marcus go to KC? So he can warm the bench forever? Mahomes, barring a terrible injury will be the starter until Marcus retires.

Re: Tannehill replaces Mariota
I mean... getting traded to KC in no way means "and signing a lifetime contract"... so no, he wouldn't be sitting behind Mahomes forever...
I would think the argument would be that Mariota would get an extended trial run (Mahomes is absolutely missing more than a week) with actual weapons around him to see what he can do, and then he'd hit the open market and try to find a starting job in the offseason. Assuming he performs, that probably opens more doors for him than sitting behind Tannehill, or sitting for a few weeks and being reinserted for the stretch run with the same old Tennessee problems.

Re: Tannehill replaces Mariota
It's reported that there's no further damage. I think 3 weeks is so fans don't get their hopes up. In reality I see him missing 1 game, which would really give him 2 weeks off, not just one. I predict he'll be back against Minnesota.mrpd21 wrote:squintsdd wrote:He dislocated his knee cap. Mahomes will maybe miss a week. KC would be a terrible location for Mariota to go. Re: Tannehill replaces Mariota
I have coached soccer players with similar (Displaced patella) injuries. None of them missed more than two weeks, although, despite the running, that's where the similarities end.

Bummed to see Tannehill won for Tennessee today. I’m hoping this isn’t the end of Marcus in the NFL but it may be. I know he could have and should have done better but he got a raw deal. I’m guessing over the next few weeks Tennessee and Tannehill will start to suck again and people will realize Mariota wasn’t the problem all along. I sure hope Marcus gets another chance at a good team, but I’m not so sure it’ll happen.

Re: Tannehill replaces Mariota
The win tonight was ref aided, so many reviews on the last plays, Chargers had the ball 1st and goal from the six inch line, two Charger TD's reviewed and over turned the. The fumble...... I doubt Marcus is done but he should learn from another vet for a while.OregonFan4Life wrote:Bummed to see Tannehill won for Tennessee today. Re: Tannehill replaces Mariota
The Titans barely won that game, by literally one inch. Tannehill did have a pretty good game, but he got pancacked by two guys on a sack, and I was really glad that wasn't Marcus. Tannehill has a rifle arm and the O_line was blocking pretty well for a change. If they play like that every week, I would say that Marcus deserved to be benched. However, the Chargers are now 2-5, so not exactly the most amazing team to beat. We'll see how the Titans do next game.

Re: Tannehill replaces Mariota
A couple observations to add on to what has already been said
1. Sometime during the 3rd or 4th quarter, the announcer said that the offensive line or one of the offensive line players (Kelly replacing Conklin?) needed to step up their play so Tannenhill wouldn't get killed/murdered
1b. Tannenhill hurt his non-throwing left hand somehow (I think due to hits)
2. Titans won the game due to Henry's ability to pound the ball; this could be because of Tannenhill's ability to throw downfield but the play calling was mostly predictable and had a heavy dosage of Henry
