Yea, LaMichael didn't spoil Oregon fans. Gary Campbell spoiled Oregon fans. One of the greatest position coaches in the history of college football.

Absolutely. The RB vision has noticeably been far inferior since Campbell wasn't brought back.

So a ? For all the recruiting gurus in here. Who is the most important of the remaining recruits. To the untrained eye Id say Worthy and Williams. But Some of y’all know more about it than I do.

Because of talent? Worthy, Thornton or Suamataia.

Because of position of need? Williams (DL), Davies or Higgins (DB).

After the Luke Hill debacle, Oregon could really use a pure cornerback signee who is on the level of our current and past starters. Dontae Manning (class of 2020) likely ends up a safety, so the current pledge Barkins is the only true high school CB in the last two classes. I think he looks solid, but neither him or Davies are surefire all-Pac 12 players, so you can't miss in that position in this class.

Doesn't he still live in Eugene. Sure wish they'd bring him in as a consultant or extend their arm out to him as they have to ex-players to stop by for talks to the team.

Nothing I'm going to say is a putdown of coach Campbell.
But I'm not worried about rb or RB recruiting. RB is probably the easiest spot to recruit and fill. When was the last time UW, Stanford, utah, even UA had a bad RB? Even WSU has had good ones. Cam was a legend, and a great coach, but if all the positions RB is the easiest to recruit and coach. Especially with the OL Mario is building. Our RB will have lanes like Emmitt Smith enjoyed.

Also, Mastro has shown to be a solid recruiter. He was the lead recruiter for 5* WR Franklin in fact.

I heard him on a podcast (Scoopduck maybe?) and Campbell said he is very much enjoying retirement and goes golfing every other day. He had no desire to go back to coaching at all. He said he put his all in to it for 35 years and that was more than enough.

I had a little chat with LaMike at his burger restaurant some months ago. He told me that Coach Campbell had moved to Arizona.

But the teams you mention are all average and an average RB will do just fine for teams looking to be average... having a good RB is the difference in winning and losing vs. elite defenses. Our run game from Verdell was weak vs. Wisconsin and we wouldn't have won it unless Justin used his legs (Wisconsin probably not as prepared for it). Teams that have been successful in the past (Georgia/LSU/Alabama/Clemson/Ohio State) all have RB's in the NFL/going to the NFL. Might not be hard to find an average RB but a lot harder to land one who can put the team on his back. Last good RB recruit we had was Rolls Royce imo.

Worthy on Saturday too, nice getting one or two quacks a week. It's nice they commit end of the week so we have something to look forward too, even though there all expected.

We are like drug addicts with this recruiting: as soon as the thrill wears off a little on the last recruit, we are ready for the next thrill.
