Look at this rating, know who selected the player, and be excited. :)

He's turning out just fine. Oregon's coaches know how to recruit and find those underrated players early in the process.

Boyett was a 4 star on scout and Rivals sucks at rating the West Coast. Also, he was an early commit so that tends to trend down the rankings of sleepers.

Boyett was not a sleeper. He was California H.S. player of the year his senior year. Texas made a big push at the end to turn him, but he stuck to his early commit. He will be one of the best at Oregon before he's done.

Love getting this kid, but he may need to change his name. :D

I love it that not even Washington wants to be in Washington.

He was a sleeper going into the season. Did you miss the part where I said he was a 4 star on scout? But they only added a 4th star towards the very end of the recruiting season. At the time of his commitment he didn't have any other Pac-10 offers I believe. Anyway, he was what I would consider a sleeper at the time of his commitment.

The definition of a sleeper is usually a low rated, late commit. Someone that shows up close to, or at LOI day. An under the radar type. Daryle Hawkins or Nick Cole were/are sleepers. Everyone knew about Boyett. He was the Ducks first or second commit and had a lot of offers. Scout doesn't do a very good job sometimes of showing that......Lavasier Tuinei was another that the Ducks were trying to hide out last year, but someone spilled the beans. Like Masoli, a JC kid that was a full qualifier at of HS.

Of our safeties, Javes Lewis would be considered more a sleeper. He was a real late commit.

I'm sorry, I just disagree. Boyett did not have a lot of offers when the Ducks offered him. I was following recruiting pretty heavily at that point on scout and on rivals and it's what I recall. At the time he was often compared to the verbal of Maehl, another sleeper. Later on in the season after much hounding from educk, they gave him his 4th star.

Point aside, he was obviously a stud recruit and I'm glad the Duck coaches thought so highly of him to offer at such a point in time.

We are getting some long athletic kids at DE/OLB...see Anderson, Arden, McCain, & Washington. Apparently Arden has quite the wingspan and speed to boot. We are definitely getting that hybrid OLB/DE in spades.
