Nix wouldn’t have been my first choice, but I understand why they went with him. I don’t understand all the complaining about this pickup. The young guys will still have a chance to compete and show they are a better option. If they aren’t able to do so, then Nix will be an alright fallback. He has experience in Dillingham’s offense, so he can help the young guys pick it up. Dillingham obviously saw something in him and he was the SEC freshman of the year. We’ll see how it works out.

Was really hoping they went with Casey Thompson or someone else over Nix.

Not sure why all the love for Thompson. Yeah, he had 24 TD passes, yet Sark told the world after their last game, that it is time to re-open the QB competition. Doesn’t sound like a glowing endorsement.

As GrandpaDuck said, I think this raises the floor of the team considerably. 8-4 seems like a given right now knowing nothing else about next years team.

Dare I say that he gives us a punchers chance against Georgia?

My take: Nix is going to be another AB in terms of results. Wins games, but not enough of them.

Ashford’s mom came on Spaces and said all she wants is a fair competition between all the QBs which, in her opinion, had not been the case previously.

I’m ambivalent, because just like Brown he’s Jekyll and Hyde.
But please don’t think that he’s worse than Anthony Brown, his ceiling is higher.

Complete game by game stats: https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/pl ... 1/gamelog/

My analysis of the stats is that he can catch fire and has had better games against tougher competition than Brown. The bad is that there are all those games under 100 yards and 50% completions.

I'm more optimistic than the mean here. Dilly knows his game well and got good results his freshman year. The Auburn fans I've seen think their coaches stunted his development. And he was playing much stiffer defenses than he'll face with us. Time will tell and we won't know til we see it – there were people who strongly vouched for AB this time last year – but I don't see why some people are starting out so upset.

Probably because people feel burned about the AB situation. I'm a little more optimistic than most here, but I'm still not a fan of a running quarterback. I'd much rather have a pro style qb that's mobile.

I'm not thrilled about this qb transfer but he can't possibly be worst than AB (one of the worst throwing, full season starting QBs we've seen at Oregon)

Having a QB in the room who understands the offense and can help teach it to the other three will accelerate the process of getting the new offense installed. The qb’s will understand the philosophy faster, why progressions are laid out the way they will be, and the new language. The quicker they can get all four qb’s up to speed, the faster the can get the new timings with all other positions down.

Bo Nix is probably the very best option of any available QB to get this particular job going.

A small consolation to the anti-Bo crowd, but if whoever wins the gig gets hurt Oregon will have either Nix or the best of the three remaining qb’s as a second stringer. Even if you discount the importance of quickly installing the offense, there’s unquestionable value in the depth added here.

I am not so much worried about Bo as I am worried we have another HC that won’t develop young QB’s time will tell.
