Assuming no other teams get commitments today either. I bet we end up closer to 30.

Not bad at all, for 2 weeks on the job.

Just think of it like Mario's 2020 or 2019 class, minus all the guys who transferred out or never cracked the depth chart. To me, this class looks better, except without all the stars. Just missing the one KT or Noah Sewell at the top. Conerly would fit that bill nicely.

Agreed. I was explaining this to one of my beaver fan friends recently; the “#1 recruiting class” narrative was mostly hype. At the end of the day we had solid classes with 2-3 5* types at the top. This class isn’t far off and I don’t think Lanning and staff will have a hard time replicating what Mario did in recruiting.

Winston has recommitted.

Really, the ranking is just low due to volume, so I don't sweat it much. I like the guys they brought in, and if they end up with Iuli and Conerly, I consider the class a success. Other classes ranking ahead simply due to bringing in more guys doesn't concern me too much. It would be more of a concern if the small size left excess room, but since they're still ending up slightly over the scholarship limit, I'm not too worried. Next year they'll likely be able to take a full class and I would be shocked if it's not a top 10 class.

Considering where the class was after ESD, getting into the top-30 is pretty respectable. It does show what this staff is capable of on short notice. Give them a full cycle and it'll likely be close to what Mario did as HC.
