I'm fine with Pflugrad being let go. His players were good, but not great, and obviously the coaches thought they needed someone new. But to wait over a month to find a new replacement is awful. We needed to get a guy quickly and have someone get back onto our recruits.

Since we're talking about coaching and recruiting, what about OL coach? Any chance someone like Chris Dalman could come up here after leaving Stanford?

why would we need a new OL coach? OLCOY?

I find it amusing that during the season people are crying in their beer because our receivers drop passes, miss blocks, run sloppy routes, etc. Then when our head coach and coach in waiting decide its time to upgrade and we lose a couple recruits everyone is crying about a coaching change.

This program is moving forward and some collateral damage is to be expected. Either get on the train and look forward to what the changes will bring or stay in the nice comfy station and keep reliving yesterday.

I'm also in favor of the coaching change. I just didn't expect this much fallout from losing a couple of coaches, especially if they weren't that great.

Why would you not think that? Were you not aware that generally recruits are recruited by one or two coaches through the whole process? And if that coach happens to move on, by his choice or the teams, that the recruit is probably going to look elsewhere? I am not trying to insult you here. I really am trying to get at your level of understanding how this whole process works.

Because we still have Chip Kelly and several other of the same coaches. We are coming off of a great season. I understand the whole relationship thing, but maybe the next coach that is brought in is a better coach and a great person like the previous coach. It's not like the program is in a lot of turmoil.

While it sucks losing this guy if his last name wasn't Wheaton would anyone be that upset? Just saying...

And maybe this opens the door for a 4-5 star guy next year! I'm too optimistic for my own good!

Personally, yes. It would have been nice to pick up a good receiver no matter what his name is, and he was offered by USC. It also makes things much worse that he goes to Oregon State. If we don't get Hall or Gaines, I will be almost as mad.

And I almost forgot about Bryce Mcneal. I wonder if he didn't go to Oregon because of the coaching changes?

Just my little 2 cents worth. I trust in Chip. Also, MB would NOT go along with any of the changes if he didn't agree. I am going to trust that they have a plan in mind to which will come to fruition soon.

Recruiting is a chess game to which sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Sometimes.......you end up with a sleeper that blows your doors off when they get their chance. I don't remember much talk about Masoli or even LGB, but I wasn't on this website during that time, so I can't say what you guys thought. Everybody was talking about Pryor and what a ride that was. Here walks in this kid, 5th on the depth chart and takes us all on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride!! And some JC kid blasts off the line like a rocket...so I think we've done pretty well!

Mark my words.......Darron Thomas is the heir apparent (he gives me a chill when he throws) and we have a couple incredibly HUGE kids at WR this year. 6'5" & 6'7". We have 13 WR's............ Perhaps that's what really scared Wheaton off. The risk of having to compete.

I pity Wheaton ~ He's going to have to live with his cousin Kenny razzing him at EVERY turn. Karma's a bitch! Also, he's going to have to hear......"Kenny Wheaton's gonna score, Kenny Wheaton's gonna score" every time he has to play at Autzen. Again, karma's a bitch.

DuckGrad99 - The coaching staff is looking at and trying to get in front of 100's of kids each year. This makes it imperative for the assistant coaches to recruit and sell these kids. It seems like Pflu may be pretty good at this, we don't really know for sure. What we do know is that for whatever reason he's not Kelly's guy and Kelly cannot go and create a relationship with every kid that was being recruited by Pflu and Gray.

Now this may be Kelly's first misstep as headcoach in waiting, but we don't know yet. Let's just hold off on getting mad or judging until the final recruiting tally is in and we see what kind of coaches we get.

We've all been pretty amused in watching the trials of Miami's head coach. Maybe we're living some of the same. We all just need to be patient and see where the chips fall (no pun intended).
