That's hilarious. We have a Sophmore QB who just led us to a 10 win season in his first year on the team but this SR in HS who has a torn ACL is the one to lead us to a BCS game.....seriously? I want Boyd just as bad as anyone but don't act like this kid is our only hope of getting to the next level, I'd take Masoli over him any day.duckgrad99 wrote:I don't think any of us will forget Pryor or Boyd(if he goes elsewhere). It's nice to try and justify why we don't need him, but the bottom line is that Boyd could be the difference as to whether this team gets to a bcs game or even a national championship.

Believe it or not, Masoli still has a lot to prove as well. And yes, 1 top qb could make all the difference. Does Tim Tebow ring a bell?

Are you sure you aren't a Husky fan? This is the typical thought of many Husky fans during the Jake Locker era.duckgrad99 wrote:I don't think any of us will forget Pryor or Boyd(if he goes elsewhere). And that was just with the QB. The board was also blowing a gasket over losing the RB, Scott. Look how that one ended up. Would anyone like to trade Blount for Scott? Really, would we even trade Masoli for Prior?olpunkjunkie wrote:Funny thing, last year everyone was blowin gaskets that we didn't end up with Pryor, and then we pick up some JC QB that no one knew anything about and wasn't hyped at all. The kid is still dogged as nothing better than a 5th stringer, but eventually ends up being our QB, and is still bashed on till late in the season. Now everyone is thankful we have Masoli and have to try hard to imagine him being unthroned as #1 through his senior year.
It'll all work out in the end. In fact, you'll likely forget how "highly-rated" each player was, as you cheer them to Duck wins in the years to come.

I agree, Florida didn't need Tim Teebo because they has Leak. We are fine because Masoli and Thomas will be around forever and will never leave or get hurt so why stress about Boyd?

...and no one player will make a break this recruiting class! We don't even really know what the coaches are thinking. It could be they want two QBs. How do we know he really has an offer?olpunkjunkie wrote:Duckgrad, you honestly feel we NEED Boyd? And you're saying the bottom line is a QB "could" single-handedly take us to a BCS or national championship?
Everyone will be very happy to see Boyd join the flock. But he needs surgery on his knee and then needs to prove himself at the college level. Costa has a ton of potential to be a contributing teammate for a successful Ducks season, but has that ever materialized?
No one player will make or break a teams success.
Could it be conditional? Greyshirt? I'm of the opinion that if Boyd picks one of the other schools, we won't take a QB. QB isn't a big need this year anyway. Boyd is worth taking,. I doubt anyone else is.

Duckgrad, at least give credit to the running game and O-lines, that make the QB's you mention, as good as they are.
We all love the skill position players, and they get a lot more recognition and hype than the rest of the team, but seriously, its a team game.
I don't care how good the individual is, you go play for the Detroit Lions after your great college career, and your team still has trouble winning games.

Well that's too bad. I'm sure I'm not the only person on this board that would say that. It's not a diss on Masoli, so who cares? Did Pryor not play well for Ohio State? The question wasn't: are you happy with Masoli? It was basically, who would you rather have, Masoli or Pryor? I would still rather have Pryor, so what?

Suit yourself.
You would take Pryor over Masoli just cuz? Why not back up your statement? Or is it just that you have no real reason, you just wanted to make another rediculous statement?

Ridiculous because I said I would rather have Pryor than Masoli? I'm not even going to bother responding to that because there is nothing wrong with my opinion, especiallly since it's not a knock on anyone. You didn't ask me if I was happy with Masoli, in which I would have responded yes.

Masoli is good in our system, but to think that Pryor wouldn't have been great in our system............
I think that is even more ignorant.
Have you watched Pryor?
