This team ain’t finishing top 4 in the conference.

Tough loss for Oregon given Minnesota's record but they have beaten Michigan and Iowa in the last week so aren't as bad they were earlier in the season. Just can't have Bittle going scoreless like that again. I'm sure Altman will let them have it for how they started the game and then failed to close it out.

The game was lost in the first 12 minutes, as Oregon showed no pulse, as the announcer told us repeatedly, "Oregon was down by 18". Somehow, they got the lead down to 6 at the break, then somehow even took the lead. It was going to be okay. But it wasn't. Minnesota clearly, "wanted it more", specifically in the form that has been a major problem all year for the Ducks, 2nd chance points off of offensive rebounds. One sticks out. Shelstad hits 2 FT's, lead down to 63-60. Minnesota misses, but gets an OR, and pushes the lead back to 65-60.\During the season, in the final minutes, except for UCLA, the other team folds, and Oregon comes up with the win. Minnesota never folded.

This team has the same issue as the women's team.
They just aren't good/cannot make shots.
Both teams play gritty close tight games that come within one or two shots.
Altman's team needs to want to win ugly in addition to playing ugly.

Three issues I saw in this game:

(1) Team defense continues to regress. Been on a downward trajectory since the start of the year. Need to devote all our coaching to this right now.

(2) Bittle getting 3 shots in 24 minutes should never happen.

(3) Evans doesn't get enough run.

I’m glad someone else thinks Evans should play more! It’s weird to me how quick Altman will put an underclassmen in the doghouse but some transfer senior can be sloppy and a detriment to the team but he’ll still get plenty of minutes (like Jacob Young). I know Angel had a great game against Minnesota but he’s a liability on defense and with rebounding, two areas Evans are much better at. Also Evans potential on offense but you can tell he’s in his own head, probably from Altman putting him in the doghouse. I just feel like unless if Angel is consistently scoring he’s not a better option than Evans, especially with how bad the team has been defensively and with rebounding.

Angel is shooting 57.3% from field and 38.6% from three.

A lot better than Evans 45.9 and 23.3. Evans also turns it over a lot.

I’d love for Evans to play more but Angel helps the team win more.

Again, Angel is better offensively but I do think he’s a liability with rebounding and defense. I just think Evans has potential to be much better on offense than he’s currently playing while being much better defensively and at rebounding than Angel. I just don’t see Angel as a much better player than Evans to justify the minute disparity, especially if Angel is not shooting the ball well and turning it over.

Well in this game, defensively, Angel was clearly was out matched.

I still can’t believe how poorly we rebounded against Minnesota. Michigan State twice as many rebounds against Minny last night…

Just more weird about this team, 16-4 is great, but they should be 18-2, or maybe 12-8. Shelstad had a 3 game stretch where he was Pritchard, but then Minnesota, first two points, then showed up in the last 3. Bittle? Who knows. It wasn't great. but Minnesota was Bamba's best game in two months, and Angel really hasn't had impactful minutes all season, Evaans should get more time.

Angel has scored in double figures the last three games. He's finally out of his shooting slump and finding his scoring role within the offense, which are good things.

That is true. Can the Ducks possibly get 4, 5 or 6 players out of this depth that has been a strength of this team, aside from the lack of movement, poor shooting, poor rebounding, slow starts, to have good games at the same time again?

I think you nailed it. The early success covered that up, what Altman's teams have always done before, get better around now is the chemistry, It looked like it existed in the tournament, with wins over San Diego State, A & M and Alabama, we thought, "with the depth, this team is 10 deep." But the lack of movement, ball & Player that has been a problem all season, points directly to lack of chemistry.

Chemistry is lacking. This is clearly a team with a good amount of senior transfers.

But the "get better around now" is not necessarily true. Most Altman's teams really start thriving in like Mid/Late February. If we compare Mid January to Early February records from the past we get:
2025: currently 1-2 with 3 more games in this range.
2024: 2-4
2023: 3-2
2022: 4-1 (COVID)
2021: 0-2 (COVID)
2020: 4-2
2019: 3-3
2018: 3-3

Still a lot of basketball to be played, so hopefully Altman pulls off his Mid February magic as he often does.
