Portland area kid Ben Gregg is transferring out of Gonzaga and would provide a quality PF/C inside.

I read a blurb from Calipari about how all the HS kids are waiting for the Portal Transfers to finish before they can get offers and it underscores how this system helps some and hurts others. I still think that there should only be an Open Portal period at the end of the school year/spring term and that players have to attend a school for a full-year as part of their obligations as a student-athlete.

Pick your poison. Football generates far more money than hoops, so I am good with a higher percentage of NIL going to football. A national championship in hoops would be awesome. One in football would be that x100.

We're going to get another Anti-Trust violation lawsuit that upends the whole system because the upcoming NIL structure is going to force the bigger schools to go under the table to pay for Basketball players.

It'll be interesting to see if some of the lower-tier P4 schools focus on Basketball slightly more than Football as a result of finding an area to standout.

I think having a high-level of depth of PF/C is an important thing to focus on.

If Dante had still been on the team, with Bittle, thought was that Oregon would have been playing this weekend, so, a B1G ready big needs to be on top of the list, 2nd would have to be a 2 or 3, that can really shoot. Not brilliant observations, but the necessities on a team that can win the Natty.

Just heard during the Alabama- BYU game one of the commentators say, that with NIL, unless you're assured a top 15 pick, you should stay, look to improve your draft position for next year, none of the Ducks big 3, are top 15.

Could still transfer though. I feel relatively good about Bittle and Shelstad staying (I think they registered for spring term; state of Oregon ties), but not as good about Kwame.

Yeah, I agree, he should have good PT here if he comes back, might not find more on a team as good as Oregon should be next season, but Kwame is a wild card.

Sucks that it's a question mark every year. I would love a starting lineup of Evans, Shelstad, Bittle, Mookie Cook + one other, but oh well.

Saw a social media post yesterday that the Oklahoma City Thunder (top NBA team this year) has an average age of 24 among their starters, and Auburn (top overall seed in the NCAA tournament) has an average age of 23 among their starters. Yeesh.

Oregon has reached out to Monmouth G Abdi Bashir, who led the nation in made threes last year with 127. Going to get a lot of looks from high majors this off-season. His twin brother is a JUCO transfer headed to Auburn so they may be a school to watch should they make an offer.
