Crowd funding also creates a surprisingly big dent, even at relatively small amounts per donation.
My friends are certainly a small sample, but I know zero people who have given to an Oregon collective, which is what confounds me. You could make this work with tons of small donors, but seeing how many people would be needed I just thought I would know a bunch and I know zero. But that's one person's perspective.
What I wonder/suspect could be happening, at Oregon and other places, is using revenue generated through the athletics department and funneling it through local businesses to then get paid to players as a "sponsorship." Mix in operational money with some large donors, you have a fairly sustainable model.

And this is why NIL ticket surcharges are becoming a thing. If you know no one donating to a collective, it'll get collected somehow.

How I figured it would play out once I heard Duke was involved. I'm not sure it's a huge loss. He's a nice to have, but it sounds like he's kind of raw offensively, so I don't know whether he's worth the $2.5M he's asking, and that budget could be spread more wisely on a couple of other guys.

I agree. At first, I thought it would be good if Oregon landed a high profile player like Sarr. But you're right about his offense. Oregon needs to get Bittle back and use the rest on some other guys.

Not sure what to believe at the moment. Will just have to wait to see how things play out.

He didn't declare for the NBA draft. So either college ball or professional ball outside the NBA for him.

Is NCAA basketball now the second highest paying league in the world?

I was wondering for that. I think for some of the top guys, yes. But I do wonder what like the non-Bittle/Shelstad/Evans starters will get on our team. I don't imagine more than like $100k?

Duke is expected to get a SG transfer in WSU Cedric Coward while Illinois just landed Stojakovic from Cal. Leaves Oregon and USC as the only real options for Sarr now.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chad_Baker-Mazara He committed to SC today. I'm not sure if that eliminates them from Sarr or not.

Rumor is that Bam got 500k, so can safely assume less than that.

Gotta be honest, I doubt VCU has that type of cash to dish out for one player…

Someone on 247 just said that Dame Sarr started following Nate Bittle on Instagram within the last hour...
