Sounds like Garcia is being linked to LSU.

I think it’s the assumption he is, but does anyone know if Reitz is for sure going to leave once he’s drafted? I think he’s a junior still and I remember on TV they would talk about his draft prospect, but wasn’t sure. Assuming it’ll depend on where he is drafted.

Oregon has added Azusa Pacific OF Elijah Cook. A speedy, Gold Glove-winning CF, he batted .345 with 15 HRs and 43 RBI in 49 starts this past season.

How do those stats translate to Big Ten play?

Defense usually always translates. It’s the bat that will be the question.

Yeah makes sense. At least his stats were pretty good before so even if he does a little worse here, if he can put up .280 with 10+ HRs, that would be great.

Have to keep an eye on 2 USD pitchers who just entered the portal.

Reddemann pitched well against OSU, UCLA, Portland.
Scolari, had good outings vs TCU & Portland, not so much against OSU and UCLA.
They might be worth it just so we can beat Portland.

Cal Scolari following his pitching coach to Oregon. He had some serious upside as a junior in high school, but missed senior year due to Tommy John surgery. So does sound like a guy who probably would have been a bigger recruit if injuries weren't a thing.

I'll admit, I prefer Reddemann, but hopefully Cal does great things for us.

5-3 in 15 starts with a 4.22 ERA. 77 strikeouts to 39 walks. And batters hit .215 against him.

With better control, he'd probably be closer to a 3.00 ERA. High upside for sure.

Yeah, Reddemann would be great. I don’t see that he’s committed anywhere yet. I did read that he is more of a risk to choose to stay in the draft. Not sure if Oregon has enough money on NIL for baseball to convince some of these kids to stay in college for another year. If they did, it would be awesome to be able to convince Reitz to stay. I think he’s only a junior (senior next year).

I think as it sits now, you’d likely have a weekend rotation of Scolari, Clarke and Twist (no particular order). I think you throw in Sanford if he makes strides with his control in the offseason. I’d prefer him over Clarke. Lots of potential with the freshman pitching staff from this last season to.

Vanguard University OF Josh Schleichardt has committed. He had a great summer in the WCL, a collegiate summer league, and is originally from Portland.
