Re: CFB: Week 1
The SEC is stacked up with good teams but lacks any elite team. So they're basically the Big 12.

North Dakota blew a late lead to lose to Kansas State, who as of right now looks to have been very overrated and overhyped.

Re: CFB: Week 1
It's one week, but it really feels noticeable that the higher divisions and more well financed programs are sucking the lower level teams dry for talent. Usually, some FCS and mid-major programs will luck their way into some NFL talent, some really good college talent, and add to it some good* coaching and beat some big schools. I just don't see that happening much anymore. Once a guy gets noticed, he's being pursuaded to enter the portal, so that lower level team can't get their talent to a level to compete. Real bummer.
Also, you could legitimately build a roster of former OSU and WSU players that are still in college football that would beat either of those current teams.

I wouldn't start laughing too soon. If they end up firing Deboer, they'll likely come after Kirby Smart and Dan Lanning hard.

Re: CFB: Week 1
If Alabama fires DeBoer after this season, they're spending $60M on a buyout. They're not getting Smart or Lanning. Money isn't endless when you're putting millions into NIL.

If they fire DeBoer this soon, my best guess is that they would go for someone like Cignetti. He was an assistant at Bama for a few years under Saban and just won 11 games last year at Indiana.

The only place I could see Lanning leaving us for is Kansas City once Andy Reid retires.
Bama doesn’t worry me and I’m enjoying watching him struggle at Bama after benefiting so much from dumb luck at Washington.

The money Miami is diverting from their hospital into the football program is really paying off.
It's gone on long enough that we haven't pointed out how pedestrian the huskies looked. Took them most of the game to pull away from a mountain west team.

If Bama fires their coach this fall will it affect any of their recruits we were after? Perhaps Griffen or others?

Re: CFB: Week 1
Considering recruits often commit to coaches and not necessarily programs, it's possible. I think it's wishful thinking that DeBoer gets fired though. The program would really have to tank for that to happenQuietduck wrote: Sun Aug 31, 2025 7:11 pm If Bama fires their coach this fall will it affect any of their recruits we were after?
