I predict Jonathan Smith jumps to UCLA. Not because it makes the most sense, but because OSU's season is that bad and Beaver fans are that miserable. Smith going to one of the two teams that killed the Pac-12 by leaving would complete the descent into madness.

Gundy canned last week and now Pittman at Arkansas got canned this week.

Gotta think GJ Kinne is one of the names on OK State's list.

For Arkansas, I've gotta think Gus Malzahn and Rhett Lashlee are names to watch.

I think Luke Fickell is probably on the hot seat at Wisconsin and their remaining schedule is tough. At 2-2, with 5 currently ranked teams (Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana, and Illinois) on the schedule, with the other remaining opponents being Iowa, Washington, and Minnesota. Lance Leipold is the guy I would be watching here if this job opens up.

Until UCLA invests in the football program and NIL no OC/DC that has the pick of the litter or established name in their right mind would take that HC job IMHO.

I think the rationale behind it is that he's from Pasadena. I'm not in the camp of people that think it will happen, but that's why he is being mentioned as a potential candidate. I think most likely, it's either the FSU DC or a G5 head coach with ties to SoCal.

Eh…I tend to agree, but the UCLA game was a fresh Band Aid ripped off. This is a team that was supposed to be loaded. The AD and sponsors are probably on speed dial now.

I saw some Penn State fans wonder if after the Oregon loss Franklin would rather take that money and live off it instead of continue to coaching, if so, not a bad play by James Franklin.

On paper, this was supposed to be his best team ever (See Dabo Swinney and Clemson, too), but the loss to UCLA is just brutal.

Fans are obviously upset because of the UCLA loss, and I can't blame them, but also because of the high expectations.

That said, Franklin is coming off a season where his team not only played in the Big-10 championship game, but also reached the college football semifinals. That's an outstanding season!

Still, most fans have short memories and become so emotionally invested that they think the grass will always be greener with someone else coaching the team.

Unless they could convince Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Kirby Smart, etc to come to Happy Valley, they need to hunker down and let the season play out.

Unfortunately, as good as the coach, staff and players may be, you're not going to contend for a championship every year.

Pretty much saying his quality of life would be better at a school with less pressure. Or at least that's how I took it.

Beavers fired Trent Bray. Although they've been bad, can you even really blame it on him?

James Franklin is now out at Penn State. With him gone, Oregon has faced 3 fired coaches this season.
