Re: Oregon has some bragging rights..
Question for fellow duck fans, which of the two following scenarios would you rather have:
Scenario 1:
2026-2027: Loss in natty and top 2 finish
2027-2028: Loss in semis and top 5 finish
Scenario 2:
2026-2027: National championship
2027-2028: 4-8 record

This is actually an interesting topic. Because Duck fans want a natty so bad (me included) we can take for granted how fun (and rare) it is to have sustained such a high level of success for so long.OregonFan4Life wrote:Question for fellow duck fans, which of the two following scenarios would you rather have:

I wouldn’t trade the last 20 seasons for much, including a national title, if it meant a bunch of losing—or even mediocre—seasons. Look at the Auburn program since Cam Newton—would any of us trade the last 15 years with them? I wouldn’t.

This is not even a debate. Obviously u take natty, even if you have 5 straight losing seasons after that.OregonFan4Life wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 7:55 am Question for fellow duck fans, which of the two following scenarios would you rather have:

Agreed, Natty anytime. It's cool to see guys like Chip and Lanning create such winning teams in 4 seasons.
But Natty >>> all of it.

I think we say championship just because of all the years Oregon has been a contender but didn't win. If Oregon lost all the time like Auburn, we would likely feel differently. Anyway, this new playoff format is going to give Oregon a better chance to win. Before, when Oregon was good, the gatekeepers found a way to keep the Ducks out. Now, it's just a matter of winning games. Look how well the Ducks did this year in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. It's only a matter of time.

This fact is over looked by many. For the most part, Oregon out performed preseason expectations!Phalanx wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 9:18 am ... Look how well the Ducks did this year in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. It's only a matter of time.

If you sandwich an Alamo bowl loss in between you've got the Mark Helfrich era.OregonFan4Life wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 7:55 am Question for fellow duck fans, which of the two following scenarios would you rather have:

Call me crazy, but I’d rather have the bragging rights of Ohio st and IUUOducksTK1 wrote: Mon Jan 19, 2026 9:44 pm Oregon is the only team in the last two years to beat every team they played that wasn’t a national champion. Not even Indiana or Ohio state can say that…
