I abhor the idea of creating "exhibition" games for Football. Just tell me the season doesn't mean anything any more at that point because the "haves" are afraid of getting another Loss.duckpoint wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 6:16 pm One solution on the issue of OOC games is to remove them from counting for season record. So, you're telling me the season matters now? If you think it does, 2023 FSU might have something to say about that...Duck07 wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:30 amI abhor the idea of creating "exhibition" games for Football. That's cutting off my nose to spite my face type stuff once you put exhibition games into the schedule and project how coaches will approach them if they don't mean anything.duckpoint wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 9:14 am

Re: CFP to stay at 12 teams next season
I think it a reasonable solution to give programs a little more incentive to schedule better OOC games that the fans would appreciate. I think coaches and AD's would take a sensible approach, tune up game, mid tier, marquee game to prepare the team for the season. I'm all for a system that makes conference records count more than they do now. Padding a record with cupcake W's (looking at you SEC) should not elevate certain teams over others who scheduled tougher OOC games. Sure, SOS (largely determined by poll voters) comes into play, but an OOC loss against a quality opponent hurts more. Teams with 3 or 4 W's vs cupcakes tend to be rewarded as voters turn a blind eye to the quality of competition.
I guess the question is, would it incentivize team to schedule better OOC games? Would season ticket holders appreciate fewer 'give away' ticket games?

I am fine with 12 teams, but would like to see:
16 teams
Get rid of conference championship games
Continue automatic bids for 4 major conferences
Bowl games are worthless now, creates a non neutral field and lower bowl games have multiple player skipping out, get rid of them
Make sure the field in the championship game is neutral, Miami playing in Miami is not neutral.

12 is fine. The more i think about it, the more I'd like like to see G5 schools cut out, and Notre Dame forced to join a conference. Bring all the P4 conferences up to 20 programs. If they want to continue to have conference championship games, split all conference's into divisions Every school plays 13 games, 9 conference games all within their division. The other 4 are played out of conference against other P4 schools, or against their own conference's other division. Winner of the conference championships gets a week 1 bye, no exceptions. The rest that get in is based on the polls.

Regular season has to mean something. Any further expansion will make regular season games mean absolutely non-meaningful.
I absolteuly hate when we get a 3 loss team in the playoff. I don't care who your opponent is, if you lose three times, you should be out of a chance at winning the natty.
12 teams is already too many. 8 is the perfect amount.

I don't know about 8, that would only leave 3 slots available for non SEC teams....dd10snoop28 wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 4:48 pm Regular season has to mean something. Any further expansion will make regular season games mean absolutely non-meaningful.

Sorry yes, it was not a real ranking, I invented one based on sarcasm and the blue bloods love for all things SEC. I just don't trust any BCS era formula as they rank 70% of SEC schools, then when they lose to each other they barely move because, "they lost to another ranked team", the same formula we saw for a decade which artificially keeps the SEC teams all ranked while undervaluing basically all other schools not named Ohio State and Notre Dame.Duck07 wrote: Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:29 amIf you used the BCS rankings to determine last years playoff, the B1G would have gotten the 1, 2 and 4 seeds and the only team left out would have been Miami in favor of Notre Dame.QuackininBama wrote: Fri Jan 23, 2026 7:51 pm Are you serious with this?
Rankings:
1. Georgia
2. Alabama
3. Ohio State
4. Ole Miss
5. Miami
6. Texas
7. LSU
8. Indiana
9. Tennessese
10. Texas A&M
Notice a trend here? Yea, the SEC loves your idea.
So to be clear, this list of yours is not serious in any way.

Question...as far as keeping the Championship game neutral....how? Dont they set locations well in advance of who is in the playoffs?

You'll always end up in scenarios with a neutral site where 1 team will travel less than another, which means the only neutral site location where the "local" teams won't make a difference would be...The Rose Bowlduckfan96 wrote: Sun Jan 25, 2026 7:55 am Question...as far as keeping the Championship game neutral....how? I'm honestly very on support of making the Rose Bowl the 'omaha' of college football.
