Read the story on rivals, where Boyd mentions who he'll choose. He mentions OREGON first then Clemson then osu. Maybe thats the order he's choosing. But whoever he chooses we got enough talent in JM and DT to take us to the next level. Boyd would just be icing on the cake. Go DUCKS. 8-)

There is a 66% chance that he will not commit to Oregon, so I wouldn't say that's being called a "genius". :D

Hate to say it..but Oreducks77 definitely makes a point here. I know I'm gonna get crap for defending him because his ideas are "ridiculous" which is stupid because it seems like on this board people don't wanna disagree with the majority.
1) We are not SC, and we do not have extremely program prestige, so we are unlikely to sway parents by saying that their son has the chance to play for Oregon, because that means nothing in regards to Penn State, Florida schools, and SC (this will change)
2) The number one factor for recruits is location and distance from home. Traveling across the county, despite the best interest of the child, will probably not fly with parents. And parents are generally the ultimate decision makers.
3) Ok, we have Grant for 2010, and a few other prospects for sure, but that under any circumstance doesn't mean that we are having plenty of success back there. To be real, I might regret saying this but i hardly doubt that many of these Florida kids come out, and they will end up playing us like Pryor, Boyd (if true), and numerous others. IMO it is better getting a recruit and having him officially enrolled, rather than be close to getting a big time recruit.
4) By spending more time on the East Coast, we are losing truly good football players that would see plenty of time and excel at Oregon on the West Coast. We should try to prye into LA's hot-bed of recruiting and head farther into AZ and TX. That is where the money is at for Oregon.

The bottom line is that eventually, we will have success on the East Coast, but until then we will continue these empty promises and have to endure these false hopes that come along with recruiting. Whew.

As I recall, Boyd called our staff, not the other way around. So if a top QB recruit called you up and said he was interested, you would just turn him away because he doesn't live close enough? didn't think so.
Prior made first contact last year also, after watching the UO/Michigan game.

Even if we miss on Boyd, I don't see how it hurts us. I don't think we need another qb in this class anyway. If we get him then great, if not, things will be fine and I'm sure we will go after and get a darn good qb next time around. I don't think it's a waste of time to go after a player or two on the east coast, especially if you are in the final 3. Sure it's extremely disappointing if you don't get them, but eventually Oregon will get at least one of these guys where distance isn't a factor. I think most people on this board know that getting someone like Boyd is a long shot, so I don't understand the genious comment. With that being said, maybe Boyd still becomes a duck and all of this is a moot point.

oreducks77:

Would you like to make a friendly wager on that?!?

I am willing to put my $$ behind Tajh coming to Oregon.

Are you as confident that he won't be coming?

At this point are you hoping he doesn't become a Duck just so you can say you were right, because that's what it sounds like. If so I don't see how you can call yourself a Ducks fan

I really can't understand why everyone has gotten so heated in this chat like no one will be a genius is boyd picks or doesn't pick oregon, no one is going to look like an idiot if he does or doesn't pick oregon. we have a pretty solid class at the moment (35th on scout) with a chance that it will get better. We filled the position that I think is most important (cb) and didn't we get a heck of a qb in thomas last year? We have gotten i think at least one espn top 150 player i think in like 5 out of the past 6 years and maybe 3 or 4 straight? I mean no right now we are no SC that point is not arguable because they have national championships and we simply don't. But our program is as rivals puts it, "hot" we have the facilities and people are FINALLY starting to understand that (Curtis White, Ethan Grant) both espnu top 150 players for next year. Stuff doesn't happen immediately it takes time. All I'm saying is what is the WORST that happens if Boyd doesn't pick Oregon? So maybe Thomas will redshirt next year giving himself three years to start? And costa is our #2 and roper is our #3? Would anyone be disappointed with that? Even if Thomas doesnt RS he will be our #2 or #1 wouldn't people be happy with that? Weren't there claims of thomas being very similar to dixon? Live in the present and don't get all hyped up about one 18 year old kid picking or not picking oregon. yes it would be sweet if he did but is it really going to kill someone's day if he doesn't? (and don't answer yes to that, that'd be just sad)
