The coaches have already told Bennet that they wouldn't recruit another QB in this class (they pulled the offer from Munchie), so that could be one reason that we are recruiting him as a RB
Wow, we must really like what Bennet has to offer. Our QBs depth is pretty good as well I suppose.

So it appears Nateduck may experienced a little premature thread evacuation on this topic. That's okay happens to a lot of young guys.

Anyway Baxter appears to be visiting this weekend? Anyone know if he'll be offered as an RB, an All-Purpose, or a QB? or the 800lbs Gorilla position? Anyone know any reason he wouldn't be given a chance at QB such as "his throwing motion resembles Grandma Duck" or he has no interest in QB?

Baxter is better RB than lattimore and lache. I think he is visiting oregon sometime soon.

Basically every single top 20 RB left... (except Barr)

Da Da Da Da Da BREAKING NEWS ---------> Feb 3rd

Oregon signs a collegiate recruiting record 12 running backs in the 2010 class.
Only to be overshadowed by our signing of 13 DB's....which we seem to be shooting for.
And only 8 TEs.

Really? I don't know a lot about him but they all seem to have a different style...

I say we offer him a RB offer as well as plays as the "Wild-Duck" QB if he is good enough....

Mops also said the same thing. from his twitter ''Baxter is IMO a better RB than Lattimore and Seastrunk and is HUGE news for Oregon. Also sounds like UO might get another visit from...'' even i agreed with him. But Im fine with Lache since i thought We had no shot with Baxter, now we kinda do.

I just watched a couple videos on Baxter.. What did you guys see that made you think he is a better back than lache or lattimore?
I don't think he is bad but I don't see anything that makes him look better.. He kinda look less explosive to me and a long strider.

whats scary though

This is such a dumb comment. Ever think that maybe theres other programs out there that are better than ours? Think theres a chance that the recruit just fit better at another school? The coaches don't "whiff" on recruits. Recruits simply choose the school they like best. A lot of times theres nothing you can do.

We live about five minute from Baxter's high school. He is a monster running back and would be a fantastic add to this class. I think he is better than San Diego's other top backs this year, Clay and Dunn.

just a little heads up for those who don't know this stuff.

when a coach leaves to another school, most recruits already committed usually stay. some might take some visits but rarely do a bunch of recruits bail. so when SC loses maybe 1 or 2 recruits, please don't freak out. Its not a loss, its more like how things usually turn out.

Baxter looked great at the Army game. I still don't know where he'd fit on our team tho.

I think the USC situation is a little bit different. When a coach leaves for greener pastures is one thing, when a coach leaves and sanctions are looming it is another thing. I would think that a lot of these guys go there for the exposure and success. If the exposure gets limited and the post season gets taken away, I would think a lot of guys would want to go somewhere else.

Who knows though. As you said, this isn't the first time a coach has left and maybe the sanctions won't happen. Either way, it makes for some fantastic entertainment in recruiting this year.
