But he won't stay. Last time they had a good coach (Ty) they brought in a few good classes as well, but as soon as Harbaugh leaves they'll be right back in the crapper...

Ty was there for 7 years, that's a pretty good run. They went in the proverbial "crapper" because they got a new AD who raised their athletic GPA requirements to a 3.4 from a 3.0. Harbaugh and the alumni board of directors convinced her to bring it back down to a 3.0. That is a big reason why they are getting better recruits. Harbaugh is a big part of that, but admissions standards also factors in. Stanford has quite a bit of tradition and they won't be kept down long. Harbaugh went to high school across the street from Stanford and grew up a huge Stanford fan. I don't see him leaving for the NFL anytime soon.

have you seen how fast the nfl guys are getting the ax these days? harbaugh could be gone sooner than later,of course that might just be me wishful thinking..

Harbaugh isn't going to leave for a bad situation though. The Raiders and Lions were both very interested in him, but Harbaugh will only leave for a good situation and he really loves Stanford.
