But we could still get better there. We are fine as far as DEs go, but the DT position is still very weak since we don't have much depth for the future and no size.duckfan2121 wrote:Give me a break... Agreed we need big DTs (space eaters to stuff the middle)...hopefully we can get a surprise JC DT now.greenyellow wrote:But we could still get better there. the stud JC DL are gone. too late.
the Ducks can survive one more yr, but they will have to go JC and HS next yr. Probably bring in 5 DL next yr, even if they are two stars. Going after the big fish is great, but you need back up plans.

So true it's not even funny.bellsduck wrote:I should've known better than to be hopeful about any of these DL's. Man I really wanted Owa plus one of King, Heimuli, or Werner. From this point forward I'm assuming we get none and if we get any I'll be happy.

Still a pretty good chance we get Werner IMO.

Seriously. Initial news from Owa's last in-home is that Nebraska is a slight leader & now we're not gonna get ANY of the Dline guys we're going after? Jeez. Some of you need to get a grip. Or just stay far away from this board untill after signing dayduckgrad99 wrote:Come on guys, nothing is official with Owa yet.

Re: How did Owa's in home visits go?
Owa's mom liked the Nebraska coaches in-home visit according to the Rivals article which was written by a Nebraska writer. My guess is we probably miss on Owa but as a 5* defensive player, I would expect him to go to a more defensive minded team, just like Suh. The Ducks really need to get a better DC in order to lure top talent on the defensive side, until then the Ducks will struggle to get the top tier talent including in-state.

Kenny Rowe was also a 4 star prospect with a RivalsRank of 5.9 (same as big time players like Curtis White) and offers from every Pac-10 school including USC. Which is exactly why we need more big time linemen like him.duckfan2121 wrote:Give me a break... Actually, after this year we are pretty thin at DE as well. We really need to land one of King or OWA, but its not looking good.

Not to mention it's not a bad idea to have a little depth in case of injury.fecta23 wrote:greenyellow wrote:But we could still get better there. Kenny Rowe was originally rated a 5-star and one of the top players in the country before they saw him and saw how small he was. I'm more than satisfied with that measly 4 star, though.SeattleDuck wrote:Kenny Rowe was also a 4 star prospect with a RivalsRank of 5.9 (same as big time players like Curtis White) and offers from every Pac-10 school including USC. Plus that news was written by a Nebraska writer. It would suck to lose out on Owa and possibly King but the Ducks have done a pretty good job without landing the 5* D-linemen. Keep plugging away and we will eventually land a couple!
