Ya none of that sounded very good, especially the report after the Bo visit...if this gets NA fired than its worth it because this is unacceptable in my mind!

What does NA have to do with this? Chip & Azz are the ones recruiting Owa.briarduck wrote:Ya none of that sounded very good, especially the report after the Bo visit...if this gets NA fired than its worth it because this is unacceptable in my mind!

NA would have everything to do with it! He's not turned off by who is recruiting him, he finds Nebraska superior because their defense is superior. Superior to NA's defense! That is what this is boiling down to.

Can you blame him though if he goes to Nebraska? Their defense is pretty sick, and Suh was from Portland and killed at Nebraska and will now be a top pick.
Isn't that what you want if you are Owa?
I really hope we can pull this one out. We need Owa.

Re: AMP Weekley Whispers: Owa
The thing I don't understand about his Nebraska fascination is he & Suh are completely different players. Owa is a 6'3 230lb DE, Suh was a 6'4 280 DT coming out of HS... why does he think he will be the next Suh at Nebraska? There's no way Owa will get up to 290-300 & be a DT. And besides, Nebraska & Bo don't have some magic formula. Suh would've been a beast no matter where he went. Bo wasn't even there till the end of his career, after Suh had already established himself as a dominant DT.UOducksTK1 wrote:Can you blame him though if he goes to Nebraska? If Nebraska pulls this out I will be pissed. There are feeding him a bunch of BS & unfortunately he is eating it up.

Re: AMP Weekley Whispers: Owa
Nebraska is the soup de jour, man. There is nothing that suggests they will keep up that kind of defensive prowess. Suh was part of the best recruiting cyle that Nebraska has had in years and it's not even close. Nebraska has one good year on defense and now everyone is dubbing them the "blackhats" again. Let's see what Bo can do once he is working with kids coming through from the leaner recruiting cycles. What would suck for OWA is that he could be stuck in frigid Lincoln, Nebraska playing on an above average defense getting a below average degree when all along he could play for a team that will actually contend for title and study at one of the top sports marketing programs in the country.UOducksTK1 wrote:Can you blame him though if he goes to Nebraska? Nebraska may have their way in the Big 12 north for awhile but the path to a conference title will be through OU or Texas for the intermediate future. Let's remember that SUH made SUH...not Nebraska. He was a top 50 prospect coming out of high school. What Azzinaro did with our talent (a 2* TE prospect in Bair, a 3* JUCO kid in Ferras) was nothing short of a miracle. I froth at the mouth thinking what AZZ can do with blue chip kids. Besides, come to Oregon and lead the nation in sacks because if Nick Reed and Kenny Rowe can get 13 and 11.5 respectively at your projected position, you should get 15.

Re: AMP Weekley Whispers: Owa
But right now, Nebraska has the leverage to work him to their side. I mean what can we argue other than successful program and close to home? I think Owa will be an NFL player regardless of where he goes to college, but right now Nebraska sounds good to a defensive recruit right now, especially if they saw what they did to Texas.dthomas=ddixon wrote:The thing I don't understand about his Nebraska fascination is he & Suh are completely different players. We can argue we were number 13, 9 and 17 in total sacks the last three years in the country. Come to Oregon and wreak havoc on the quarterback. Also, we have one the best sports marketing programs in the country, which is your major of choice. Likewise, our dline coach has a little feather in his cap as well, namely Dwight Freeney. Come join a program that is sitting on the top of its league or go to Nebraska and hope to finish third. I think we're much more than an in-home successful program. We offer him a better degree, proximity, and you know that our defense is going to get to pin their ears back and rush the quarterback because our offense will actually force teams to throw when behind.

Re: AMP Weekley Whispers: Owa
Kind of interesting quick look at Nebraska's recruiting so far this year (using Scout).
18 recruits, only 2 from West coast (a 2 & a 3 star).
They have commits from 5 DEs. 1@ 4 star 3@3 star 1@2 already
They have 1 DT commit.
They have 5 4-star recruits total but 3 of those are OTs from the Mid-West.
Without those OTs they would have a pretty average class so far. Getting Owa would be the crown jewel by far as both their highest rated recruit but also their only 4 star or better from the West Coast.

Lol I gotta quit trying to play the part of devil's advocate. Yeah you're right, Oregon does make just as much sense as Nebraska if not more. OH well, I'm sure Suh got in his head a lot and convinced him..BisonDucks wrote:We can argue we were number 13, 9 and 17 in total sacks the last three years in the country. Re: AMP Weekley Whispers: Owa
Family oriented or not, maybe he wants to get out of Portland. There's something to be said about getting out and experiencing new things. If that's what he wants, it's something Oregon can't offer.
It would suck, but he's got to do what he wants. As I said about Allen, I hope he listens to his heart and is really happy. Of course I hope he has a major change of heart and really wants to stay in Oregon. I would just hate him being unhappy here and staying just for mom.
