You honestly would rather have EK than Dixon?
No, but I'd rather have him than Few.

Top programs across the country wouldn't. Just watch, Kent is unlikely to end up with a big time program. Few has been coveted by Arizona and others. I really don't get the Kent love. His teams underachieved most years at Oregon.

Well, I can see where the Few detractors are coming from. I would prefer Few over Kent, but that's not saying much. Few would be near the bottom of my list. He's a good coach, but he isn't a "slam dunk" hire.
I think that people are skeptical of Few because despite his success at a mid-major, he has shown an unwillingness to take a coaching position in a major conference. Some are saying this is due to his loyalty. I see it more as him being afraid of failure at a larger program and not wanting to give up his job at a mid major with low expectations. Who's to say that Mark Few won't be the next Todd Lickliter?
If the choice came down to Brad Stevens of Butler for ~$1.2 million or Mark Few for $2.5+, I'd definitely go with Stevens. If Mark Few wasn't an alum, would this obsession with him even exist?

Ok but he said Ernie Kent apparently in response to the question "who would you like to see as our basketball coach?" So by saying Kent, that means he wanted him over anyone, including Dixon.

Actually, I voted for Jay Wright.
The thing is though, as good as both of those coaches are, Wright and Dixon, they've got a huge recruiting base where they're at and it would be a challenge for them to duplicate that recruiting success at Oregon, at least in the beginning. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, I'm saying that just because they came here doesn't necessarily mean they'll have instant success. Ben Howland went to UCLA and had a few dozen high school all american's to choose from every year. Coming to Oregon won't be the same piece of cake.
As far as Ernie goes, yeah, I'll admit it. I really hated it that things had to go down that way. Do I think it was necessary? Yeah, it was, but it still sucked. I remember being a kid and listening to the Kamikaze Kids on the radio. Ernie's been part of the Oregon family for most of my life and I can't help but feel a bit remorseful.
I just hope this "changing of the guard" doesn't backfire. There could be worse hires than Kent.

I don't think they would have fired Kent if they didn't feel they could get someone better. My one worry about the situation is the possibility that we strike out on the bigger names and have to settle for a lower tier coach that washes out in a couple years.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but I totally expect a home run hire.

Maybe Barbee should be replaced with Donovan in this survey.

Are we even considering Ben Jacobson of Northern Iowa? I've heard his name mentioned at some point (a week or two ago), but not lately...
btw, I cast my vote for Jamie Dixon, who I think is the best name up there.

He just signed a new 10 year contract with Northern Iowa. Seems as if he's out of play.

I think that Randy Bennett will be interviewed but will only be hired if Turgeon, Dixon, and Few turn Oregon down.
