Academically, Brown has a 3.1 GPA and will take the SAT in June (Currently scheduled for the 7th).
BTW, Rivals lists Brown as a 3 star, at 6'2/265/4.8 (Position rank of #65)... Somewhat better than Scout lists him at.
Brown has a bench press of 365lbs.

Like I have pointed out in the past, overall GPA doesn't matter. A recruit's core-course GPA is what a person needs to know.

I saw his 2008 highlights on scout.com and he looks pretty good. Those videos aren't the highest of quality so it is hard to tell a lot, but he looks athletic for a defensive tackle. Of course, he isn't the biggest defensive tackle around, so it should probably be expected that he looks more athletic than bigger guys. Given the Ducks' dismal track record when it comes to these borderline recruits qualifying, combined with the rumors of another school backing off him due to qualification concerns, I am not terribly optimistic about him being at Oregon next year, but we shall see.
Here is ESPN's recruiting profile on him:
"Brown has adequate size for the defensive tackle position. He will need to get into a college weight program and add bulk. He does come across on film as a fairly well put together kid for his size, but lacks the ideals for the position. He has an adequate get-off. He is active with his feet and will flash the lateral mobility to side-step a block. He plays under control and when he gets into the backfield he will breakdown. He is adequate with his hands, but needs to be more consistent in creating separation. Will flash the ability to come off the ball low and generate power from his hips, but needs to do that more. He does an adequate job of holding his ground at the point of attack, but when he plays high he can be pushed off the ball especially against the double team. He has a solid motor. He is an adequate arm tackler. Against the pass he will flash the ability to punch and turn his hips. Needs to play lower, but when he does he can bull rush some. Brown is a solid prospect. He needs to add bulk and keep developing his game."

I'm usually about offers > stars.
3 pac-10 offers as well as offers from Boise State, Colorado, NM, and Nebraska is good enough for me.
And I'm with you, I really like this commit as well.

I feel much the same. We've had a history of turning lesser knowns into quality Pac-10 players. Getting depth is a huge key for our DT spot and getting a HS DT in this class was paramount.

He's not super hyped, but we're getting exactly like we need. This whole time it's felt like we were striking out on DT's, and it was our biggest problem going forward. All of a sudden with this commit, we fill the need with a good looking player who has what we're looking for.
