Our class over all looks great but Gaines should know he would be the one guy (WR wise) thats makes an immediate impact on our team!

GO DUCKS

I feel just as confident that Gaines will be a Duck...

...as Miami fans are that Bryce Brown will become a Cane.

From Jhop's link:

More Gaines clarification
Posted by John Hunt, The Oregonian February 04, 2009 15:50PM
Categories: Football, Recruiting

"Well, maybe clarification is too strong a word. More like more vague information...

Tyrece Gaines, the nation's top JUCO receiver, has not yet sent his letter of intent to Oregon, and the situation won't be resolved for "weeks,'' Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said.

At the press conference announcing the Ducks' 2009 recruiting class, Bellotti said he expected the issue of one receiver (Gaines) to be resolved "today, potentially'' and the other (Lavasier Tuinei) in a matter of weeks.

But as he left the Casanova Center on Wednesday, after meeting with his compliance department, Bellotti said both issues are now a matter of weeks.

Counting Gaines, Scout had Oregon's recruiting class rated No. 26 in the nation. Without him, the Ducks would drop into the 30s. Stay tuned, but even if Gaines falls through, this class is an interesting one and does address Oregon's needs."

So it sounds like it is an issue of grades, not another school. Hopefully we don't lose him to another school because of the grades, though.

It is hard to be optimistic about this coming to a positive conclusion for the Ducks considering what has happened during the recent past in these types of situations. Hopefully months from now we are not sifting through constant inquiries on Gaines as he takes his place alongside Lance Broadus and Justin Thompson in Oregon message board infamy.

With the way things have gone with JC's this year, I sort of feel like that too. But maybe we will get our due karma and finally catch a BREAK (yes, they are possible) just this once? I really have hope though that Tyrece Gaines can get into Oregon and still not pick Oklahoma. But we will see.

Apparently Gaines issue isn't with academics, it is something that has to be cleared up with the NCAA, so he should be in Eugene by fall. Actually sounds like it will be cleared up in a month or 2. That said he is all Duck just has to clear an issue.

No I don't know what the issue is and I don't want to speculate, it's his business.

Exactly. MB said Gaines will be here, he's not worried. He has one issue to clear up & once it is, he will be here. It's not like he still has classes to make up. I'm not really worried about this.

It just seems so similar to Justin Thompson ... and he never became a Duck
