Sadly, it could get worse. We don't know how Catron's back will hold up or if Longmire can get himself academically eligible. Two of our walk-ons are injured and we added Coach Westhead's grandson as a third. A few guys are going to play a LOT of minutes this year. I can only hope they stay healthy. Guys show up today . . . I hope all nine are there along with the three walk-ons.

With the great Payne - WWW connection that got all these high prifile players, I'm not really surprised by this. You always had to feel that there was something extra going on that was getting us guys like Malik & Dunigan. Thanks EK. I hope Altman sticks around, IMO he's the perfect guy to pull us through any sanctions & get us competing again.

at all by this. The road just got longer for
Altman. I hope people will give him a chance.

Let's hope that there will be no sanctions
of any kind. That would really hurt recruiting.
Kent doesn't strike me as a coach who
would do anything like this. but there are
to many secondary people involved in the
process. If Payne was involved he's in the
perfect place at Kentucky. their coach knows
all about cheating.

Payne seems the most likely to have been involved due to his past associations with some people that are thought to be a little dirty. Him leaving for Kentucky to go coach with Calipari doesn't help dispell any of the rumors that Payne may be involved.

Sadly from what I'm hearing this will be on Kent AND his staff. I'm not sure the actual facts will come out for a while (the NCAA usually takes a while), but what we have gone through over the last 6 months may be nothing. Altman will have a uphill battle and we as fans will have to give him 3-4 years to fix this thing.

I'm thinking that the most recent benefits were probably received during the period with just Payne and the other assistants looking over the program until a HC was hired. Since they are going back 2 years, they are probably just looking at the period at which the players who took benefits were here, which means mainly Dunigan's class of recruits.

Our saving grace in this whole thing is that Altman and his staff have tried to identified the problem, and distance themselves from the it. Plus UO self reported this to the Pac-10 and NCAA.

Awesome! This has to be some kind of record. How many teams have actually cheated to get high profile players (allegedly), yet still finish at or near the bottom of their conference standings in consecutive years. I mean really, if you are going to cheat, at least get someone who can play.

We don't even know what kind of benefits, if any, players got. They could have gotten the benefits after they got here, which if far different than offering players benefits so that they'll come here.

This is all so upsetting to me. I'm sure it took place, because all of those guys mentioned decided to leave the program. I thought it had to do with Kent leaving, which didn't really make much sense. THis could easily hurt recruiting for at least a few years as well.

Feel sorry for the guy. His job just got
much harder. But if he stays the course
and pulls it off then my hat will be off
