The only question I have with this is how much is he going to play with Armstead, Sim and Loyd already at point guard? We really could use another big man.

I'm almost positive Loyd will be the back-up point and Sim will see extensive action at the 2. Let's hope he's learned to get consistent with that shot of his, eh? And Strowbridge will probably play some 2, as well.

Probably not much unless someone gets injured, but they need practice bodies.

I was going off of the "starting" line-ups Altman was using in practice. The rationale is that if you start Singler at the 3, Catron at the 4, and Jacob at the 5, there's absolutely no inside depth. You got that Nared kid, and that's about it. And I don't know if people can say if Sim is good or not, all he's done is run some point alongside TP, which is to say, he's brought the ball up the court a couple times, passed to TP, and the offense stalled. He's athletic and moves well without the ball, he just needs to be more consistent with his outside shot.

Sim is a big wildcard since he may very well improve with TP being gone and having Altman coaching him a different way than Kent. If Sim has improved confidence in his shot, I think he can seriously be looked at as a starter at the other guard spot opposite Armstead.

Exactly. Sim is one of those players that fell victim to Kent's substitution pattern nightmares. Oh, you missed your first shot of the game? Come take a seat next to me on the bench for the next 37 minutes. We'll try this again next game, maybe you won't have the audacity to miss a shot.

If only the above rule applied to TP.

Sim was too good of a shooter in HS to consistently shoot like he has at Oregon. The talent is there, he just needs a coach who won't take a dump on his confidence every time he misses a shot. Shooters miss. I'm far too lazy to actually do the legwork, but I'd be interested in seeing how the statistics look from Sim's first 10 or 12 games as a true freshman when he was playing heavy minutes, to this past season when his minutes were inconsistent and maddening.

The development of players like Sim and Williams should tell us a lot about Altman's abilities at 'coaching up' players.

Remember when Sim had a 30 point game and looked like a future stud his first half of his FR year? What happened to him? Hopefully Altman can help him regain that ability of play.
