Re: San Jose State @ Oregon
Their PG takes Sim to the whole, scores & is fouled. Hits the FT for his 1st points of the 2nd half. Down 3 with 2 seconds left. I dislike Sim.

Ouch. Strowbridge has been terrible after the solid opening game, and Armstead was off today as well.

Yeah Strowbridge looks like he's never shot a 3 pointer before. He is WAY off on all his threes. Armstead had like 7 turnovers. We played like garbage but still had a chance. I'm just pissed their worthless PG took Sim to the hole for the game winner. He had no business making that shot but Sim somehow found a way to give up a 3 point play.duckgrad99 wrote:Ouch. Too poor of shooting and way too many TOs. The TOs can be cleaned up but I think that the shooting problems will be an ongoing thing all season. It was nice, however, to hear that JJ played a little. Once he's back in shape and in the flow of the offense, he'll really help Catron with the scoring load.

No minutes for the German center tonight..... Is Altman trying to redshirt him? and can he do that after already playing (sparingly) in 3 games?

He can't since in basketball, as soon as you play a minute and aren't injured for the rest of the year, you can't be redshirted.Boom wrote:No minutes for the German center tonight..... Is Altman trying to redshirt him? and can he do that after already playing (sparingly) in 3 games?

Is Strowbridge Tajuan Porter Jr.?
Stinks the team didn't play well in the 2nd half (looking at the box score).
Teondre Williams appears to be playing well.

Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. That was a tough game to watch, not because of the loss, but because of all the unforced errors. We were throwing it out of bounds, to SJSU, anywhere but to our own guys. 2 of our last 3 possessions, I believe, ended in handing the ball over to the Spartans without getting a shot up.
We were rocked on the boards, coughed up the basketball, and shot poorly (37%) but we were still right there tied at 72 in the end. Based on some of the comments from the UCSB game I get the feeling some people here don't respect any team outside of the big six conferences, but there are GOOD mid-major teams out there and SJSU is one of them. We're not a talented basketball team and we didn't play particularly well. Still almost won. Lots of room to grow.

They aren't going to outshoot a lot of teams on most nights but their defense and utilizing their limited possessions wisely will keep them in games.oregontrack wrote:Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. Agreed. And when we do hit the treys, you can see the in-game adjustments that Altman is allowed. Teondre and Sim each hit two treys in the first half, and SJSU adjusted at halftime and stretch the defense out to blanket the perimeter. Under Ernie, we just would have kept firing deep shots even if we weren't open. Yesterday, they took away the longball and we started forcing it inside to Catron, who had a great second half (I think 18 of his 25 came after the break?). It's great to see simple, fundamental basketball like that, which high school coaches around the country have mastered but Big Ern never did.
I have no idea why Sim is getting so much hate in this thread, he played fine. SJSU took everybody in the building by surprise late, everybody assumed the last play was going to Oliver. Our team sure as hell did. Instead, they used him as a decoy and our own defensive positioning presented Graham, their PG, an open lane with only Sim in his way to an easy bucket. Sim either had to foul or give up an easy look, unfortunately he didn't foul hard enough and Graham still converted.
